Great place to chill, watch the magic of Scott, the bartender make his yummy drinks and enjoy the speakeasy type atmosphere. Bring your $$$ cause the drinks aren't cheap, but worth it!

This is a beautiful National Cemetery. It is less then 10-12 years old but still seems to have a lot of history. It is a little bit off the highway but worth the drive. It gives you the same feeling as if you were at Arlington National Cemetery.

We visit Bauman Orchard in Rittman throughout the year and love the convenience of the corner market at the crossroads of routes 585 and 57. Seasonal fruits and vegetables are always fresh and delicious and the staff is super friendly! The main location features a lovely mural on the building.

If you like smooth, dry wines, but can't get to California, Filia is the place for you. A fun setting, live music, and friendly hosts. Being able to bring your own food makes this a very affordable evening. We look forward to our next visit.

I've been wanting to go here for over a year now and I finally made it! I literally gasped when I walked in. Samples, samples, and more samples! I loved that! We walked out with Wasabi Peas, Applewood Smoked Double Cream Cheddar (seriously tastes like bacon), Milk Doubled Dipped Raisins and 1/4lb of Pepperoni! I can't believe I waited this long to come here! Don't make the same mistake!

The Stellabuto’s camping life is a thing of the past at The Lake Campground. These have been great years. We have watched our boys grow and make wonderful friends along the way. Lori and I have met fantastic people that we do not just consider friends but extended family. We all may not be together as a camp group now but, I know we will stay in contact long after The Lake Campground. It has taken me a little while to post a review because I was given a very small window of time to remove personal property. We have been busy demolishing something we have built over the years.
The nice thing about social media, there are all kinds of places to write reviews on our experiences and try to help people understand what they are getting into. My issues started over my camper being at an angle. The camper and roof structure was still on the lot I had paid for the last 7 years. Keep this is mind the camper has been sitting in this position since 1988. Also keep in mind the owner was fully aware of its position the first two years he bought the place. It must have been my turn in the barrel because this past July, I was asked to move a 38’ camper, 38’ deck with carport type roof to straighten the camper position. When I said it cannot be moved - It was all downhill from there….
The owner will fail at the campground because he does not understand the camper’s mentality. We choose to spend money to live like hoboes (or riffraff as he knows us by) so we can all be together. We are not rich; we do not have brand new campers like he wants; we are not from a boat marina from where the owners come from. We are blue collar working class people that have chosen to spend our vacation money on camping. Our camp family makes it a safe place for the kids to run around and have fun because everyone protects each other. The adults can have a cold one by a campfire. We like our cookouts. We can sit and unwind. We can be in a safe place.
That is what camping is.
Campers help each other regardless if they have known you for years or just met you when they were setting up. A camper will share their food, their drink with no return expectations. A camper will help the older people do whatever is needed to insure they are OK and set up. A fellow camper will help split or stack wood when he sees his neighbor out there without being asked. A camper will pick up a shovel to help spread dirt and not even know the neighbors name yet.
That is what a camper is.
I doubt anyone has ever picked up a shovel to help the owner, unless he was employing them.
The owner had made the comment that he does not understand why you people camp during the week, camping is for the weekends. We stay during the week because we want to, we enjoy it and we like being together.
Over the past two years it seems like there was a goal to get everyone out that was there before they bought the place. The campground now has people that do not know how the Loyal Oak Lake Campground was run before. They are not aware of how nice it used to be. Yeah, there are a few remaining but they will probably be out eventually. The lake started in 1955, it is fantastic that it has been around that long and it is being dismantled in 3 years.
The owner wrote me a text stating, “The word is out as to what a beautiful family campground we are operating, sites are going as fast as they come available”. The word is out but he is not correct on what they are saying about The Lake. It was already a family campground, a very tight family. We are families that does not just spend our summers together, we get together in the off season too because we want to. These long term camp families have been displaced, disrupted and destroyed that have been together for years, for decades – 20, 30, 40 years. The owner should stop making family comments when he does not understand what makes a family. A family is not just blood. There are kids that were raised there. Some of these kids were babysat by the other campers so the parents could go to work. Does anyone remember Stan and Chris speaking at Phil’s funeral? They called Phil and Shirley – Paw and Mammaw.
That is what makes family!
If this is such a beautiful camping experience and lake fun why are there people falling over themselves to get out? I am not talking about the ones he unjustly thrown out. I am speaking of the ones that are going on their own, around 25-30 camp sites this year? That is a pretty harsh loss when there are only what - ±100 sites? When I first started going there (not as many years ago as others) you would have to go up to the lake in the morning and put blankets and chairs down so you had a spot. The last three years we never had to think about a place to sit, there is always room now.
I understand capitalism but I also understand dictatorship. They do not work together very well in this environment as the owner is trying to do.
The owner has zero compassion. The owner has zero empathy.
He is a horrible owner and manager.
From other reviews posted recently and reviews from years and years ago, it seems like he never learned how to deal with the people.
When these reviews go out, the owners will post their standard PC comment to try to self-preserve their position. So, yes I am bitter. I am bitter because this all started over a camper that has been sitting in the same angled position for the last 28 years. I am also bitter as to how my friends have been mistreated since they have taken over. I am just sad that there is not a choice for zero stars in this review. We all know the truth though, and this is my conclusion of my review:
“Anyone thinking of camping or swimming at The Lake Campground under the management/ownership of Kris & Amy Schmid, there are probably a couple hundred people (adults and upset kids) that would tell you to stay away from The Lake Campground”.
You will not be treated with respect.
There are different rules for everyone.
The rules that are given will change in a heartbeat.
If you are a woman expect to be talked down to (my wife has personal experience on this). He is the poster boy for a Male Chauvinist.
You have to learn to walk on egg shells because you never know when he is going to turn against you.
The owner is what I call a “telephone tough guy”. You will get texts, emails and if you are really lucky you will get certified mail at home. If you would like to have a face to face – forget it (see next point).
If you do want to discuss business face to face; you will be ignored and “just turn the golf cart around when he sees you” so you cannot talk to him. When you try to find him and if you do find him be prepared for the owner to get defensive and personal with you and do everything he can to provoke you so you get mad and then he will blame the entire situation on you. Business will not be discussed. He may even verbally attack your wife and then call her names, like he did with me. The next day you will be thrown out and be threatened by the police. In his mind, he is the owner and cannot be wrong.
There are a lot of other inappropriate things I have heard him say around me or what friends have told me. Things that are not something that should be said by an owner or a decent person. Put it this way, at a company he would have his own chair in the HR department.
The perfect camper for these owners would be one that has a brand new camper, comes in Friday night, leaves Sunday afternoon and does not leave their lot to walk around in between.
I give it a 0.0 ranking.
Think of this, 6 1/2 years camping with the old manager and the new owner with nothing of even a warning to slow down, no noise complaints, etc. The last 6 months my camper needs moved and we are kicked out unjustly. It was my turn in the barrel. Do not be the next one.
Now I will wait to see the spin they put on my review…I am curious to see what they say I am wrong about.
My fellow camp families (that are no longer there) tell me where I am wrong on any point.
If you are still at the Lake – do not comment to this review or your barrel will probably be next.
