Psili Ammos Beach

Reviewed By Chrisworldtrip

SOMETHING ALL THE TOURISTS SHOULD KNOW is that a multimillionaire shipowner bought a big south part of the island, the south peninsula that points towards the islet of Ofidoussa... Even though it s against the Greek law, his huge private property blocks the access to all the coast of the peninsula with big walls. Even thought you have the law on your side the security will kick you out if you try to access the Beaches by the coast.
This scandal blocks the access to 3 Beaches on the peninsula.
Even more frustrating is that Ofidoussa is easily reachable from the point of the peninsula since it s just separated by only 50m of shallow water.
Independent visit of Ofidoussa is no longer possible then.
There is no shuttle to go to Ofidoussa, the only way is to book a day trip tour with other tourists....
We wanted to rent a kayak to go on our own but we ve been told that it is not legal to rent a kayak... So the only solution again is to sign for a day kayak tour..
We like discovering beautiful sites independently walking or hiking so we didn't do any tourist tour so we were very frustrated not to be able to enjoy this very promising part of the Island that was a reason we had chosen Shinoussa.
I think all the tourists should be aware of this issue before coming here so they avoid big frustration...

Aeolia Boat

Harbouring in Schinoussa we sail off everyday for a different destination of the neighborhood of the Small Cyclades...Schinoussa, Iraklia, Koufonisia & Keros are included in the weekly schedule. Aeolia is also available for private cruises upon request, and operates as a sea taxi to the ports of nearby Islands.

Reviewed By Family_business - Oslo, Norway

The whole family of four enjoyed our full-day trip with Aeolia immensely. The weather was absolutely amazing, with zero wind and the ocean laying there as a mirror - very unusual for Greece in the summer. The atmosphere on board is very relaxed and you feel more like being on a boat trip with friends than being a customer. We visited some amazing places for snorkling and swimming that you cannot reach on your own. They also serve some delicious Mediterranean snack to keep you going until lunch.

Lioliou Beach

Reviewed By keith47 - Westcliff-on-Sea, United Kingdom

This is one of only three Beaches with a tavern and a nice beach it is, with some shade. Not very big and can become very hot if no wind, but also blowy if the wind is coming into the beach. If the weather is right there is a cooling walk to the south (right when looking to sea) with views to nearby Islands, but also to the left which goes much further, beware maybe some naturists possibly at the first cove. nice little chapel just beyond this spot

Livadi Beach

Livadi Beach, on Schinoussa's southwestern coast, is a sandy beach with deep blue waters.

Reviewed By Skeney57 - Sydney, Australia

The Beach runs a fair distance from the parking area/road and has a large choice of bars & restaurants right on the sand. The beach is a sand/rubble mix .You can sit in the shade for free (if a customer) and it is a relaxing way to have a dip and a cold drink, very laid back crowd playing shuttle cock for ages and not a bad stop on a warmer day.

Tsigouri Beach

Reviewed By FleetLady - Seaford, United Kingdom

Beach packed [many off boats there only a very short while]as so close to the centre of Schinoussa. Has a great cafe with a good choice of food & drinks well-prepared by friendly and professional Albanian lad & with free sunbeds. The water is clear & swimming good
That's where it ends ~ the beach is filthy ~ litter everywhere, overflowing ripped open by animals / birds black plastic rubbish bags that no one attempted to clear up, Litter strewn everywhere you looked. No attempt has been made to clean the beach area of dead vegetation and wind-blown articles by the locals, unlike all the neighbouring small Cyclades where they take a pride in their island. There were virtually no foreign visitors, mainly just visiting Greeks ~ no surprise as little is done to make this island attractive

Gero Limnionas Beach

Reviewed By Nikos O - Athens, Greece

The small gulf of Gero-limnionas is the place you must visit for sure when to are in Schinoussa. The access is not easy as you have to climb a small cliff (easy thing) to get to the beach. Even if the weather is windy there the sea will be calm. Beautiful blue waters for nature lovers. Is better to go early in the morning as the beach is small and you mighty not find room to seat. Take water and food with you as the nearest tavern is on the central road 15-20 min away on foot. To get there you have three ways. On foot, by taxi and with the local bus. On foot is about 45 min from the town center. Also make sure you have umbrella as you want find any trees for shadow.

The recognition of Greece as a promising terrain for adventure activities, and as a destination of unparalleled beauty, history and culture, urged them to share, with the incoming and domestic visitors, what they daily experience through adventure activities in the Greek countryside. Their vision is to promote Greece as a four season’s tourist destination and motivate people to get involved with nature.

We went on a ride around the island. The group guide explained a few things to us because none of our group had ever tried something like that before. The ride was fantastic! It was great to see little bits of the island that could not be seen otherwise. It was also a lot easier than we thought. We got to stop and swim in wonderful secluded Beaches. It is a great way to spend your day in Schinoussa. Do try it!

Almyros Beach

Reviewed By flyer - Sudbury, United Kingdom

We visited Almyros beach in early September. Just a few sunbeds and brollies at one end of the curving bay with a bit of shade from a few trees at the other end. The sea is beautiful and offers good swimming after you weave your way between rock shelves below the surface. The day we were there the sea was calm and it was easy to find the way through, but might not be as easy on a rough day. There is a reasonable road leading down from the chora and it is easily accessible by walkers. There are no refreshments or facilities on the beach.

Kampos Beach

Reviewed By Nikos O - Athens, Greece

Only five minutes away from the Beach of Liolios you will find a small beach named Kambos Alygaria. As I have learn is the third beach in the island with the Name Alygaria. A small and beautiful beach with clean water that you can easily see the deep. Make sure before you go to have with you all the necessary things (water and food or snack) and an umbrella because there is trees to protect from the sun. The sea is uniq when the beach of Liolios is windy as it is like a small gulf. To get there you can go on foot (35-40 min from the town center) by taxi (yes there is only one) by calling the driver to get you there and with the local bus. You can easily combine half of you day in Liolios and the other half to Kambos.
