The Rimrocks

Reviewed By Robert V - Ave Maria, Florida

Overlooking Billings and miles of the northern plains surrounding east/central Montana is this natural phenomenon of a cliff and plateau, which stretches for miles far above the plains and Billings. The local regional airport is on Rimrock Road, as the view dominates the entire local landscape. The road from the airport is Broadway, as it passes through downtown Billings, and out to I-90.

There are opportunities for free parking and hikes along the cliff separating the plains from the plateau.

I'm already not a big fan of zoo's, so take this lower review with a grain of salt. Nothing special about this zoo, and fairly pricey for the typical Billings attractions. If you are on the fence, I would avoid this one.

This is a great drive going from Red Lodge down into Yellowstone National Park. Lots of pullouts and hiking trails. Beautiful views in almost any direction. Highway 212 through here is steep and winding, but that’s what’s makes it fun and so beautiful. We did it hauling a 21 foot overhead camper with no issues.

This is a great place for kids of all ages!! This was my grandaughters first time there and she had a ball!!! The food is excellent, especially those terrific hotdogs!!!! The only downfall is the hot tub which is fill with little kids!!! Difficult for adults to sit back and relax. Even though the "life guards" made the announcement that children under 5 were not allowed, the parents kept them in there!!! It would be so nice if there was just a hot tub for adults!!! Other than that, it is a great place to take kids!!!

If you want to see everything sporting goods this is the place to stop. They have great bronze statues of historical people out front. They have lots of taxidermy animals that line the walls of their hunting department that have been collected from many local area hunters. They have all the sporting equipment you could dream of. They have great restrooms and a nice cafe you can get tastes of chocolate and nuts at. Take a break from I-90 and stop in. They have sales too, you might find something you like! Do take advantage of riding the Ferris wheel and do it first so you get the lay of the land!

A family entertainment center that offers seasonal outdoor attraction of mini-golf. Inside there are video/arcade games, redemption prizes and Laser Maze. The golf course is new as of 2016 and is one level and kid friendly, but still fun for adults. We have ice cream treats and Pepsi products available. We are just off the Zoo Drive I-90 exit on the south side, look for the two sided waterfall out front.

We went because it was right across the street from the hotel where we were staying. We played mini-putt which was fun, good family activity, then the kids played in the arcade for about 1/2 hour, quite small. Luckily enough my eldest won 1000 tickets in one game so they were able to get a big prize (8 inch rainbow ball) and we left.

They also had go-karts but a small track and it was quite busy. We also played air hockey, the table was not generating a lot of air and the puck was a bit bent so kept jumping off the table. But it was still fun.

Good way to occupy a couple of hours if you are nearby, mainly with the mini-putt.

The Amusement Park Drive-In

Reviewed By Sheryl M - Vaughn, Montana, United States

It was fun going to a drive-in movie when they are all but gone. Too bad they didn't keep the speakers to listen to the movie. That's the biggest downside to this theater. You have to use your car radio(risking running down your car battery since you have a two hour movie to sit through) or taking a radio or some other mode for listening to the dialogue during the movie. We weren't properly prepared, so we almost ran down our car battery to watch the movie. We bought some nachos to enjoy and they were very good. Their food prices are comparable to any type of theater food anymore. The place is a little run down, but that's to be expected considering the genre. We did have a good time and will be better prepared the next time we're in the mood to watch a drive-in movie.
