Kalong (Flying Foxes) Island

Pulau Koaba, which is also known as Kalong Island (Fruit Bat Island), is a low-lying circular island measuring 500 metres across and appearing to comprise a core of taller trees surrounded by dense mangrove. At dusk, the sight of thousands of bats leaving their roost and heading for their feeding grounds is a magnificent spectacle.

In Google maps it is Pulau Koaba. Thats what is around 40 minutes from Labuan Bajo. You never get to the Kalong island (at Google maps) in 40 minutes from Labuan Bajo.
Bats are coming out quite late. it is almost totally dark. You can not have much pictures at this time anymore so better just to enjoy the show for 15 minutes and record that show in your mind
Worth of seeing, something to remember!

While in Labuan Bajo you can have pizza, pasta or even sushi but then why to come to Indonesia? What I would recommend is to have a grilled fish or other seafood at the local Fish Market. Don't get discouraged by the first impression - plastic chairs and tables herded tight, lots of people or smoke from BBQ. But once you have tried the food, you won't regret. It's simple but as fresh as possible and very tasty. And the price is much lower than for western food.

One of the best places we visited for snorkeling - on a sunny day it's absolutely fantastic! Lovely vibrant coral and an abundance of fishes - even saw a baby shark! Sun beds are overpriced but not sure how much they enforce the charges.

Kelor Island

This island is only 1 Hectare but it has 3 things to go for. Lovely view from top a very small but beautiful sandy coralline beach and some good snorkelling with very good variety of fish and with a few very nice and preserved corals. The majority of coral is gone, but being so closed to Labuan Bajo, it is a very good trip

Cunca Wulang Waterfall

If you have free time in Labuan Bajo and have nothing to do, rent a scooter and head to this mystical and strange waterfall. It's about 1 hour drive on asphalt road.
Getting to the entrance, pay the entrance fee which is classified on how many people in the group. for example we were 3 people , so the fee was 130K for three of us. Then I think it was a guide fee 20K for foreigners and 10K for locals.
The guide would take you to waterfall with 30 mins walk. Easy walk but wear a comfortable shoes. When we get to the waterfall, it wasn't very inviting us to jump off the rock about 5 meters to the water. So we didn't do it. We were wandering around and we left.
On the way back to Labuan Bajo, the view was great. We stopped by to take some photos.

Batu Cermin Cave

We visited just after mid day, and can only say that this is a cave with stalagtit and stalagmit, nothing more. Probably 30 minutes inside was more than should be. I guessed when the lighting was right, maybe morning or late afternoon, maybe more interesting. There was smaller and deeper cave that people can visit, hard hat provided as had to crawl sometimes, but we didn;t go in, too dark and require a guide.

Rangko Cave

Reviewed By mothy16 - Pekanbaru, Indonesia

At Ciao Hostel, a funny guy named Johannes offered us a tour to this cave. 6 people in a car. 250K per person. Started at 3 pm, It's about 1 hour driving on a horrendous road, we get to Rangko Village. Then there was a slow boat waiting for us taking us to the cave. Short journey about 20 mins, we got this inhabited island. The cave was just near the shore.
It was very interesting cave, scary at first but after you stayed there for a while, you wouldn't be scared anymore. Swim around and taste the salty water. Johannes showed us how to climb the rock and jump off into the water from about 7 meter high up.
We watched a great sunset before returning to the village. We had dinner at one of the local's house. Simple meal and delicious.
It was a fun half day tour.
