The Snake River Valley AVA's newest winery. We produce world class wines and provide a fun experience for all guests. Try our Huston Vineyards and Chicken Dinner products on your next visit.

When you're driving down the highway and come to road named Chicken Dinner Road and there's a sign promising wine, you follow the sign. Huston Vineyards is a great little boutique winery making wine from the sun drenched grapes of the Snake River Valley. The Sunny Slope agricultural area was long known for the great orchards that provided fresh fruit to Boise Valley. Now it's providing great grapes for great wines. Our visit was wonderful. For a mere $5 per person we tasted some delicious wines and enjoyed pleasant conversation. The $5 was waived when we bought some bottles to take home. The tasting room has a nice selection of gifts but the main attraction is the wine. Their Chicken Dinner Red is one of my favorite blends and the current vintage may be their best yet. You can start your tour here or end it here but you definitely need to make sure it's on your tour.

Koenig Distillery and Winery

During a family reunion close by, we found several family members interested in visiting the local wineries in the Treasure Valley. While not personally a wine type, I have visited some of the Sonoma and Napa wineries.

The next time we are in the area, we are going to make this an all-day affair to visit more wineries in the area. This area of the Treasure Valley, actually the Snake River Valley, is gorgeous. Even though I've visited the area for years and family has lived in the Valley for longer, I did not know it existed. The views across the valley and the river, with the farms and the vineyards is beautiful and very picturesque.

The Koenig facilty, brand new by the looks, would be impressive in Napa or Sonoma. The overall ambiance was one of professional wine tasting. (They have a wine tasting club as well.) They also offer a variety of snacks, complimentary, including cheeses, to accompany the wine tasting. The view from the tower is also incredible. The entrance through the grapevines, the layout of the facility, all really looks and feels so right.

The variety of wines and other spirits rivals any winery in CA. They have a variety of reds, whites, dessert wines, ice wines, flavored brandies and vodkas, even grappa!

Tasting of up to 5 varietals is free, but I doubt they keep score as most people will purchase for sure. We bought whites, ice wines and a dessert wine.

This is a MUST STOP on any wine tasting tour within the valley.

Highly recommended!

Williamson Orchard & Vineyard

Williamson Orchards and Vineyards is located along the Sunnyslope Wine Trail within the Snake River Valley AVA. The Williamson family has been growing fruit here for four generations. By relying on our long-history and knowledge of the region we designed our vineyard to maximize the terroir of our high dessert location with the goal of producing stunning wines from high quality grapes. A great deal of time and thought went into the planting of our vines. From vineyard layout to the selection of grape varieties we wanted to ensure that our site would produce superior grapes. Our forethought, planning and hard work has paid off. Our wines have won countless awards and are recognized across the region for quality. We now have over 50 acres in vineyards, 8 varieties and 14 award winning wines. Visit our tasting room to experience some of the great wine being produced in Idaho. Expect a welcoming atmosphere steeped in old-fashioned, farm-charm along with honest and knowledgeable service.

We enjoyed our visit to this winery. My brother and his wife were visiting from the Bay Area, California, so they are accustomed to the wineries in California. They were surprised how many wineries were in the area, so we took a tour of some of them. They were impressed with this one and enjoyed the red wine selections from Williamson's. Some of the white wines were not as good as some of the whites from the other areas, but that was their opinion. It could be really good to some other people. Have a great time there if you decide to visit. We recommend it!

HAT Ranch Winery

Vineyard A great wine begins in the vineyard. Our first harvest yielded a very special Dry Moscato. Don't prejudge this wine by the varietal name. It is very different. This year, 2016, we will be harvesting our first Estate-Grown red, Cabernet Franc, as well as our Dry Moscato and Sauvignon Blanc. Winery We make our wines with dedicated care to each small batch. When the time is exactly right to pick the grapes, they are expertly harvested and sorted. Then we make each small lot by hand with careful attention to things like temperature, pH, and other important factors. This process is a labor of love. Harvest season is called "Crush" in the wine world. It is a time of lots of hard work and very little sleep for our winemaking team. The results are worth it. Tasting Room Our Tasting Room has a view of the vineyard and of the Owyhee mountain range. It is beautiful in all seasons. Located on the Sunnyslope Wine Trail just 40 minutes from downtown Boise or the airport.

The HAT Ranch Winery is one of the newer additions to the Sunnyslope district (there are ~12 wineries on the trail), but is rapidly growing in prominence. The tasting room staff are friendly and welcoming, and the selection of wines very interesting. The wines range from traditional varietals (under the Vale label) to the more esoteric and blends under the HAT Ranch label. Of note are their syrah and cab in the reds, and the dry moscato in the whites. Look for upcoming new varietals, such as Sauvignon Blanc, in the next few years.

Nice experience. It's great to be able to get up close to some animals you usually can't get to. For example, We visited here a couple days before visiting the Boise zoo. After hand feeding wallabies at Babby, it was very anti-climatic seeing wallabies at the zoo where we couldn't even touch the ropes let alone get near the animals.

Staff are all very friendly and willing to answer as many questions as you want to ask. For the most part they are knowledgeable about their areas. We were there right at opening and they were feeding the animals so we had to wait a bit for the animals to come back up front to feed them. We just went to a different area for a bit.
