Mica is definitely one of the finest craft galleries in the Asheville area. Located in downtown Bakersville, it’s definitely worth your time to get there; and while you’re in Bakersville, there are many other places to see and visit in the vicinity. Unlike many other galleries, this is a very carefully curated co-op. That means that they are very picky about which artists to include (or not include), and all the artists represented have to pitch in and assist. Of special note, there are amazing soft sculptures created by Louise Grenell, an artist new to Mica. Also, Claudia Dunaway, who has had a long career as a superb potter is now making exquisite prints, and several of them are on display here.

Thrifty Adventures has re-branded to NC Outdoor Adventures. Based out of the Blue Ridge mountains in Western North Carolina, NCOA offers over 21 different trips including; tubing, rafting, whitewater kayak instruction, climbing, rappelling, waterfall rappelling, hiking, camping, youth programs, wild edible plant walkabouts plus alpine climbing instruction during the winter months. A great selection and variety of contemporary clay artists - both functional and sculptural - as well as jewelry in a wide variety of materials and styles. A definite destination for art lovers (and soon to be art lovers).

This is lovely gallery filled with one-of-a-kind art. It was hard to decide what to take home, particularly the ceramic and jewelry collections curated carefully by owners Silvia and Andy. They make you feel right at home and let you browse at your own pace, but are ready to answer questions you may have. Highly recommend visiting this special spot in the quaint town of Bakersville, NC.
