The view from the top overlooking the Peak District is just beautiful and I look forward to visiting again in various seasons. There’s a choice of various routes depending on your stamina. The only downside was multiple dog mess bags along the route. So many people clearly dispose of it incorrectly leaving them on benches or hanging from trees!

I came here for the second time with my boyfriend and a friend for some drinks and food. The first time I visited we had the calamari and it was very tasty and we had an amazing time. The second visit was equally enjoyable - the food was so good: we shared a platter and the calamari for starter, then I had the sea bass served with gnocchi with amazingly seasoned sweet peas and broccoli. My boyfriend ordered the hanging pork kebab with chilli fries which was wonderful and my friend ordered the yellow chicken curry (it was okay, but she's Indian and I work in an Indian restaurant and we didn't taste that kick that is normally proper of a curry, we could only taste the bitter of turmeric, but no cumin or chilli or any other Indian spices). It came with a very tasty coconut milk Basmati rice. The cocktails were stunning; both alcoholic and non alcoholic, both were very well balanced in taste and amazingly garnished - a must if you come here!! The staff was very welcoming and attentive, but not intrusive, especially our waiter Dan. Dan guided us through the choice of our meals and his suggestions made our experience great! We will surely come back soon.

A special Sunday Lunch was planned for November 1st .......group consisted of grandparents, mums and dads and three children eleven, nine and nine months .......nine in total and we were safely placed at socially distanced tables in the gazebo at the Drum and Monkey. All the staff were welcoming, helpful and friendly and helped to make the family gathering a really happy occasion. All the meals were delicious ..........roast dinners mainly and the vegetables were all amazing ......creamed potatoes just gorgeous!!! Definitely a cut above the rest as regards pub meals. Will definitely be booking again and thank you for making our first family meal out for ages so special.
