Impulse stop turned into a delightful step back in history. The tour guides were both informative and we absolutely loved the “non-roped” off areas offered within the mansion. It was a true home town experience. I have a new found appreciation for modern lightning (thank you Mr. Edison) and bowling alleys. We will definitely back at Christmas!

Greyhound Hall of Fame

At the time of my visit I was a greyhound owner. It is one place that all greyhound owners should visit. Abilene is a lovely Midwest town in Kansas. The Greyhound Hall of Fame has loads of information about the racing greyhound. History, greyhound greeters, and all things greyhound dog wise. I do believe that more interactive displays and other items of interest have been added since my visit all those years ago. I had to add the Dec 2019 as the travel date menu did not go back far enough.

We were curious about the Presidential Library we saw on a billboard, so we stopped during a cross country road trip. It was late afternoon, so we didn't get to see as much as we'd like, but it is the most quaint town and pleasant land. The gift shop, boyhood home, museum, chapel and library are all nestled in huge, beautiful trees, as well as a memorial.

This is a great museum full of interesting stuff. The best part was riding the carousel, an original CW Parker version. So much fun! They also have lots of history books they're giving away for free, and a neat little gift store with stuff for kids and adults of all ages. If the weather is nice enough, you can visit the buildings in the back, and even if it's rainy or snowy, there is plenty to keep you occupied inside.

Nice ride thru farmland, over water, and thru trees changing colors. Learn a lot about the area and attractions. All the individuals involved with the ride were very friendly and had vast knowledge of the area. The stop at the Grist Mill was enjoyable. If you are in or around the Abilene, KS area - the train ride is well worth taking.
