Crucero Ambiental Sanabria

The oceanographic vessel of the International Biological Station- EBI in Lake Sanabria, interprets the unexplored subacuatic world of the biggest glacial lake in the Iberian Peninsula, with its geology, flora, fauna and archaeological remains, by biologists-divers with radio communication and high definition cameras followed live from a deck with glass roof for 80 passengers. This first solar-wind catamaran of the world is certified with zero emissions, zero effluent, zero waste and zero decibels of sound. It has elevator adapted for diving, 20 semitransparent solar panels, 4 wind generators, oceanographic laboratory, microscope shown on a big screen and subacuatic robotic cameras. The tours operate all year and ends with a Sanabria´s cider tasting on a pier lookout, that as the boat, is fully accessible for 3rd age and other people with disabilities. Departures are from the facilities of the EBI in the Custa Llago´s parking, located near Ribadelago in Zamora. This privileged location and its proximity to Puebla de Sanabria, offers visitors great access from the Madrid-Galicia highway with excellent food and all kinds of accommodations and natural, monumental, ethnographic and scenic resources. The E.B.I. ecotourism activities are the only of Castilla and Leon recognized in the European Union by the European Ecotourism Network and the first of all Spain to receive the Certification of Family Tourism next to the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, the city of Toledo and the Aran Valley. Its hydrographic vessels have received the 1st National Tourism Award and the National Medal of Merit of Portugal for its ecotourism and research projects, which also include the Environmental Cruise that carries the interpretation of the spectacular vertical cliffs of the International Duero.

Catedral de Zamora

As many people have remarked in reviews, the tapestries are what makes an interesting cathedral a must-see. They are truly breathtaking, and are well worth a detour to see. Some down in the main cathedral, but the bulk of them are upstairs in their own museum part. We nearly missed this, and it would have been a real shame.
