The rugged terrain includes mountains and gorges made for hiking (Los Cahorros is a favorite with its limestone cliffs and hanging bridges), icy plunge pools for swimming, and plentiful tunnels and caves to explore. We hiked this on our own a few weeks after the area had received heavy rain. The river was high, the path was muddy near the village and slick in many spots. We had a blast negotiating our way up the gorge. This trail is not for anyone who struggles to crawl, or scamper along a cement wall holding onto metal grabs. There are multiple areas where you have to do both and I was glad the river wasn't any higher or we would have had difficulty in a few spots where you have to climb down into the river and step along the cement wall to stay on the trail. You'll want your hands free and good hiking shoes. When we got to the top of the trail we took a road around the edge of the canyon back into the village. This was not a interesting or as pretty as the gorge. If you have time you may want to go back along the river.

I bought 6 hours of group lessons for my 8 year old son and 3 hours of group lessons for myself off Groupon.es. Always wary of these offers but this one was successful! In the end they didn't give me the full 3 hours as there were only two people in my group - instead they changed it to 2 hours, calling it a private lesson - which it wasn't, so was a little unfair I thought. However, we were very pleased with my son's lessons as by the second set of 3 hours, he was able to take the ski lift up to the green slopes and confidentially ski down with Javi the instructor, who gave his absolute all to teach my son to ski well. Javier is the director at Ski Centre Sierra Nevada and I wholeheartedly recommend using him if you want to learn to ski! Thanks Javi - just so you know Oliver skiied "El Rio" that same afternoon! We'll definitely be back, and we would definitely call on Javi again!

Sierra Nevada Granada

Sierra Nevada is the southernmost ski resort in Europe and the highest in Spain with a minimum height of 2,100m, where the Pradollano urbanization is located (being the highest urban nucleus in Andalusia) and a maximum height of 3,300m, its highest peak is Veleta which stands at 3,398m being the fourth highest summit in Spain only behind Teide (Tenerife), Mulhacén (Sierra Nevada) and Aneto (Pyrenees). It is located in the Sierra Nevada natural park and belongs to the municipality of Monachil in the province of Granada. One of its main characteristics is its good climate, the geographical situation in which it is found makes the Sun and good weather predominate and thanks to its high altitude the fallen snow is preserved, sometimes from the beginning of autumn until well into spring . Its more than 107kms of skiable terrain make Sierra Nevada one of the largest resorts in Spain and the Iberian Peninsula, making Sierra Nevada one of the preferred destinations for all lovers of skiing.

Sierra Nevada was a great experience. The infrastructure is working very well. Parking in a huge public garage located right under the central part of Sierra Nevada. Many hotels and restaurants are within convenient walking distance from the garage and so are the ski rental shops and also the efficient skilifts. The ski area offers great skiing for all kind of skiers aswell as nice restaurants with both indoor and outdoor seeting.
