It offers good value for money and has a niice spa area with small pool, jacuzzi and sauna, a small games room and an outdoor swimming pool. There are beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. I would recommend staying here. we stayed in Summer but I am sure it is equally lovely in the Winter during the ski season

Low cost group vacation center in Polish mountains

Reviewed By Pierre_De_Meyts

I spent the Christmas holiday (from December 23 to December 27, 2014) with my wife and her parents, who are from Poland, at Gwarek vacation center in Ustron, in the Silesian Polish Beskids mountains near the Czech border. Ustron is a health and spa resort as well as a ski resort located between the Rownica and the Czantoria mountains. My parents-in-law booked a Christmas package offered by the Euro Pol Tour operator. An occasional tourist coming by chance to this place with expectations to find a tourism hotel that meets international standards would be thoroughly disappointed. The place is rather drab with the comfort of a college dormitory and the atmosphere of a nursing home, although it was well decorated for Christmas. It seems popular with retired people on organized tours and also seems to function as a conference center. My wife and I had a small room with two narrow single beds on opposite walls. The room has a flat screen TV. The room was not cleaned once and the beds not made during our stay; a maid came only once to replace toilet paper and left the door unlocked. The bathroom was simple but clean and modern, but only a minuscule soap and two towels were provided. Toiletries are on sale at the registration desk. No hair dryer is provided. There was free Wi Fi but it was unstable and slow in the room. The ordinary dining hall looks like a college cantine with long parallel tables. We arrived on December 23rd (outside of the Christmas package) in time for supper ("kolacja" in Polish), which was rather pathetic: bread, ham (one slice) and cheese (two slices) as first course and a tepid spaghetti bolognese as main course (served at the same time as the first course), no dessert. With a glass of fruit juice. Fortunately wine could be ordered at a reasonable price. The breakfast buffets were decent and the coffee OK, no orange juice was available. On December 24th, the Christmas vigil dinner was in the banquet room used for weddings, and was attended by about 200 people. It was quite satisfying with a variety of typical Polish dishes (fish only as is traditional in Poland on Christmas eve). Only a half glass of white wine was provided but on this day it was again possible to order reasonably good and inexpensive wine bottles. A Christmas carols concert followed. The lunch and dinner on Christmas day, also served in the banquet room, were unremarkable (although the beef roll and pork schnitzels Polish style at lunch tasted good, and were served with a glass of honey vodka) and at dinner we were told that it was not possible to order wine... There was a dancing party afterwards that we did not attend. An oasis of coziness in this otherwise rather unexciting place is the café ("kawiarnia"). Intimate with a well provided bar (although it ran out of white wine and tap beer toward the end of our stay) and a very friendly and enthusiastic bartender named Andrzej (who speaks good english), it was also well decorated for Christmas and had good music and good wines, beer and drinks at a cheap price. Coffee was better than in the dining room, and fresh pressed fruit juices were available. This helped make our stay in the end more pleasant. The Wi Fi worked much better here. It is unfortunately a smoking area. Snow finally came on December 26 and everything around turned white and atmospheric. Lunch on the last day had nice musical entertainment by a local folk group. We did not have great expectations for the last day dinner so we went instead to famed restaurant Sielanka 2,5 km away and were not disappointed, I am reviewing it separately. All in all, it is probably unfair to evaluate this vacation center with the expectations from an international tourism hotel. It is probably fine with the groups of pensionists that would rather have collective cafetaria food with dozens of strangers rather than being home alone. Moreover, Polish people are hospitable and convivial so it was easy to break the ice with the people we did not know at our table.

Very poor customer service and poorly working elevators

Reviewed By Sylwiawien

Very poor customer service. Very old elevators, working slowly and not efficiently. Bad organization. Food should be much better for the price paid. Generally, bad experience. The only positive thing was the view from the 7th floor balcony. If you like huge building with a lot of people (1000) and only 3 small elevators working at the time, the place is for you.

Dom Wczasowy Zameczek

czysto i smacznie

Reviewed By GagaWarszawa

Bardzo przyjemny ośrodek, smaczne posiłki. Zajmowałam duży pokój 2- osobowy z wygodnym łóżkiem, małą łazienką, czajnikiem, podstawowymi naczyniami i wifi. Dobre miejsce do odpoczynku. Polecam
