Watt Street Wharf

Reviewed By DestinationsJourney - Hunter Valley, Australia

This is a historically important spot in Newcastle, although most of it is now gone. This was the place of the first wharf, where coal was exported and ships unloaded cargo. Now it's a great spot to relax, have a nice walk and take in the views of Nobby's Headland, Stockton Beach and the Harbor.

Lotsa good memories of the spit, beach, lighthouse and views of both beach side and harbour side, including tug boats pulling huge tankers out to sea.... And whales to top it off

Strzelecki Scenic Lookout

A break in the rain on the weekend got us out for a coastal walk and we lingered here as others were saying there were whales and dolphins swimming in close. We saw 3 whales and one of the largest pods of dolphins we’d seen, must’ve been about 60 of them. Truly incredible.

we took our grandchildren to the fort and were overwhelmed by the park area and the views back towards Newcastle and beaches. If you are a keen photographer or just love scenic views and or a picnic this is a fabulous place to visit.
