Great service

I arrived late after a long journey and Cathy the lady on Reception knew my name as I was only person not to have checked in. She made sure I had same room for following night after me booking an extra night. Then I had an issue with my room card and she brought one up to room. Brilliant welcome and fantastic personal service. Hotel as you would expect from Premier Inn. Really good!

Tired and dated

Reviewed By mcghee8300

Have stayed in this hotel in the past. Has been left to rot and needs a make over. I wouldn't have minded, but the cleanliness wasn't brilliant. Sheets didn't fit the bed and had holes in. Had dinner in the restaurant and it was not nice. Breakfast however was beautiful. The redeeming factor had to be the staff. They were very friendly and welcoming.

The Torrance Hotel

The Torrance Hotel is located in East Kilbride, near Glasgow. This historic building has always been the hub of the local community. It was built in 1773 as a cotton-spinning mill incorporating workers’ houses, by General Stuart of Torrance. The building has had many uses from a school, shop and coaching inn, and you’ll still find many of the building’s original charm and features. Today the hotel is still the hub of the local community and it is a busy thriving hotel which is popular with locals. Visitors can enjoy a relaxed and welcoming restaurant, and an open, airy conservatory which can accommodate fine dining, private parties or intimate get-togethers. A beer garden offers flat screen televisions and is a perfect spot to watch all the big sports events with a collection of friends. The hotel has 17 comfortable rooms and a beautiful honeymoon suite which has its own spa complete with sunken bath. The train station is a 5 minute walk and a train will take you into the heart of Glasgow.

We had our Wedding at the Torrance Hotel last week and it was a fantastic stay from start to finish. Hannah and all the team both front of house and behind the scenes really know how to make your day special. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome, the staff were all warm and friendly with great banter and nothing was too much trouble. They also go the extra mile with little extra touches that will surprise and delight you. The food served during our reception and the evening buffet was delicious and numerous guests commented on how they enjoyed it. The same goes for the celebration meal we had the night before the wedding and the brunch the day after, we can’t wait to come back and sit in again for another meal. We stayed two nights in the Honeymoon Suite and we were not disappointed. Newly refurbished this year, the decor is stunning and the sunken hot tub upstairs is great to relax in while you enjoy the complimentary cocktails and snacks from your mini bar. We can’t thank everyone enough for making our day so memorable and we have already made plans to come back for a stay in the Honeymoon Suite on our first anniversary. Have a meal, stay the night or book your wedding. Whatever you do you won’t regret doing it at The Torrance!

This was probably the most welcoming B&B I've ever stayed in. There were four of us so we used both the rooms. Laura welcomed us on a Saturday evening and was very helpful with suggestions for somewhere to eat in the area. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was lovely. The cooked breakfast was delicious and Laura was a good host. Would highly recommend.

Just okay.

My friend and I had a weekend here for a break from kids/husbands and housework! We had bed and breakfast the first night and dinner B&B for the second. Check in was good, the reception staff were lovely, very pleasant. The room was fine, quite old fashioned but clean enough. Saturday we went into the pool area which was not as good as it looks on the photos but was ok. We sat on the terrace in the afternoon just outside the bar as it was a roasting hot day. Very pleasant grounds and met some nice people. The bar staff seemed to all be brand new and the girl that served us seemed to be really peed off with life. Felt she could have been better presented too. We had a meal in the restaurant. The fryers were broken so couldn’t have the fish and chips. Had the burger and fries which was very mediocre. We had asked for a glass of wine which took a while to come, had to ask again for it. It came and it tasted awful so we asked them to change it, we then had to ask again 15 mins later, we had finished our meal before it turned up and the lady that gave it us seemed very put out that we had asked for it to be changed and said the previous wine we had been given was Pinot and she would prove it by showing us the bottle. We found her attitude very aggressive, we declined to see the “proof”. we waited 30 mins for dessert and had to ask after 20 mins where it was to be told that it hadn’t been put in yet but she would do it now! Not sure what kind of excuse that was? The service after the main was served was in summary super slow with poor attitude. We had ordered room service breakfast for 9am. It arrived at 9.30am and it was cold and no toast. We called for toast and didn’t have time to wait for a hot breakfast so ate it anyway and the toast arrived just as we had finished. Also didn’t get a cup for my tea so used one in the room already so no biggy. I mentioned the wine problem to the lady at check out who kindly took it off our bill. Also mentioned the cold breakfast just for feedback and she was very apologetic. The reception staff were definitely an asset to the hotel. All in all we found this hotel to be quite old fashioned, in parts lovely but definitely not a 4 star. Probably wouldn’t come back.

Filthy Dirty and Disgusting not worthy of the Holiday Inn brand

Reviewed By graemep904

This hotel is in a filthy, dirty and awful condition. I have stayed in many Holiday Inn's but this is by far the worst. I took my family here thinking the Holiday Inn represents a minimum level of quality but this was appalling. Upon arrival the outside of the hotel was scruffy and appeared run down. We were then greed by a guy on the front desk who appeared totally disinterested and told us nothing about the facilities or hotel. We were given an "executive room" and the complaint is mainly about the cleanliness and safety of the room. In short the room was disgusting. Thick with dust, a rusty broken bin, vomit stains all over the carpet, cigarette burns on the pillows, stains all over furniture an absolutely disgusting state. It appears like this hotel is being allowed to go downhill and no one seems to notice nor care. On the safety front there are bumps in the wall which may be a sign of asbestos (we will report this to the health and safety executive) and also for a family room the wide opening window means a child could easily crawl out and fall. As a regular and loyal customer of Holiday Inn I was appalled by the state of this property and did wished I did not bring my family here. Whoever owns the franchise here does not deserve to use the Holiday Inn brand and I strongly recommend that IHG investigate this property. I feel robbed for what I paid for this absolute dump.

Frustrating layout

Reviewed By Crackerjack2423

I spent two nights here. it was comfortable with spacious and clean rooms, friendly staff, but what lets this hotel down is the crazy layout of the hotel. The reception, bar and restaurant are on the 12th floor, car park access is on the 2nd floor and pedestrian access from and to the mall is on the ground floor. It's a bit of a bind getting access to the hotel as you have to press an intercom every time you need to get into the building, sometimes having to wait a while for someone to answer.

Very disappointed

Reviewed By Barbara G

The photo on the booking site I used were ok and the price was good. However when I checked in for one night even though there was a double bed the room was tiny. The upholstery on the chair in the room was so dirty I wouldn’t anything on it let alone sit on it. The room was extremely unloved With ring marks on all the surfaces and very dark. The bathroom was clean but very tired with cracked tiles on the floor. The shower was little more than a trickle. It was so small I couldn’t outstretch my arms either way. That said the bed linen was clean and I did sleep relatively well. I understand the limitations Covid has made. However other than breakfast there were no facilities at the hotel. I had been travelling for 6 hours and the bar was closed as well as the restaurant. Also the public areas were unavailable. All of this made my stay all the more unpleasant. I was directed to the nearest restaurant which was a Weatherspoons 3 minutes walk from the hotel. I was a little nervous as I was a single female and didn’t know the area. Such a shame as with a lot of investment it could be a great hotel.
