Era Artiga de Lin & Uelhs deth Joeu

Among all the hiking routes that can be done in the Aran Valley, this is one of the easiest to go with children and that is also completely spectacular throughout its route. But beware, you have to go early, before 9.30 in the morning, otherwise the parking lot from where the trail starts will be closed and you have to park in the small town of Artiga de Lin, which is beautiful but leaves us about two kilometers from the trailhead The road to access the path from the town of Es Bordes, the detour is well indicated, it is spectacular and even if you go by car it is worth going slowly and enjoying it The first thing you see as soon as you start is the Lin waterfall, which hides a secret disappears into the earth near the peak of Aneto and reappears here from the ground as if by magic Then we cross a wooden bridge and the path continues with good wooden steps, the waterfall being on our right and we were amazed by the grandeur of the countryside, the water sounds and the waterfalls At the top we arrive at the Artiga de Lin meadow where we can rest, have a cold drink and take endless magnificent photos, returning by another spectacular path to the starting point, the path is circular, it takes one or two hours depending on the stops you want to make

Esglesia de Santa Maria d'Arties

Reviewed By Franarucas - Las Rozas, Spain

One cannot avoid getting lost in this charming town in the Aran Valley and any path one takes will always take you and this beautiful Romanesque church will be present. Declared a Cultural Asset of National Interest, it is considered a standard of Aranese Romanesque architecture, it is located on a high point where the castle of Arties also stood, of which only one tower remains It has two access doorways, the main one, which opens onto the north façade, is spectacular with semicircular arches, the decoration has semicircular motifs, the last archivolt is finished off with a border identical to that of the cornice of the apses. Two corbel stones are decorated in the shape of male faces, A cross is engraved on one of the blocks next to the door The church has an altarpiece that represents several biblical scenes from the life of the Virgin Mary, on the ceiling there are some masterful wall paintings, which represent the biblical scenes of the Last Judgment with hell, heaven and the resurrection of the dead.

Sant Andreu de Salardu

Reviewed By Franarucas - Las Rozas, Spain

If you travel through the Aran Valley, you cannot stop strolling through one of the capitals of the region, Salardu, whose historic center has been pleasantly preserved and it is a delight to walk through the The most charismatic monument in Salardu and at the same time the most visible is its well-preserved Romanesque church, which is accessed through a beautiful courtyard from which you can admire its beauty and grandeur. The church houses the carving of the famous Christ of Salardú, one of the most representative works of Aranese Romanesque, this Christ presides over the main altar, where there are fresco paintings with bright colors What I liked the most was the eoctogonal bell tower that has two floors, attached at the south-west angle, it is very slender and is provided with loopholes that give it a defensive character. The chevet is made up of three semicircular apses with corbels and crowned by a belfry bell tower. After visiting the church it is relaxing to have a snack in one of the many small bars that exist in the central streets of the town while enjoying the beauty of this town.

Iglesia de la Purificacion

Reviewed By andrewmM7551SG - Plymouth, United Kingdom

This church is old, very old, and small, but it is one of the best small old churches I have ever come across. It's in a small, quiet square not 50 meters from the main road and the river, but with two cafe/restaurants and this lovely little church. Lunch, and a visit, on a sunny afternoon: what could be better?
