The present town of Castellammare di Stabia was once a favorite destination of the Roman patriciate, who chose this plateau overlooking the sea as an ideal place to have their own otium villa built. Even today, although little known, some of these beautiful dwellings, partly incorporated in the modern town, are preserved almost intact. We will visit the luxurious Villa San Marco, articulated on different levels and equipped with private baths where the owner could spend moments of leisure in the company of his guests. We will then proceed towards Villa Arianna with the adjacent Secondo Complesso, unique in its kind for the exceptional quality of the frescoes and its considerable size.

Had such a great time in the Lemon and Olive groves and then tasting Limoncello and Olive oil. Claudia is such a great host. Then onto see Bernadetto the Cheese man watching him making mozzarella in front of your eyes and then eating it washed down with plenty of red wine. As if you hadn't seen and done enough you are then whisked away to Lucio's Pizzaria too make your own pizza which you you then wash down with even more red wine ! Absolutely fantastic experience. This was by far the best trip of our holiday I have been back twice now. I highly recommend this fantastic experience.

As a tour operator specialising in Italy myself, I will say that Fabrizio is one of the best guides I work with. Beyond knowing his material well, Fabrizio is very engaging and shows great skill in communication and presentation. He is definitely my first choice for guiding within the Campania region.

It is not difficult to do Herculanum from Napoli. Just take the circumvesubiana train line to Herculanum scavi. Than walk 10 minutes on the main street to the archeological site. It seems small, but will take at least two to three straigh walking hours to discover it. It is wonderful: much larger and better preserved houses than in Pompei. Even with its "dark" side with the 300 + squeletons od the people who died there. All palaces and public builings are very well preserved. You can really fill the good living standard of romans 2000 yeats ago! Also worth visiting both museums. Give enough them time, because they show you what was found right on the place.

8. Vesuvius

Sesto Continente Tours

this is a tour in which all visitors to the area should participate, because here the disaster began which then compromised the places that are now visited as archaeological areas By participating in the tour to the Crater of Vesuvius you realize the extraordinary force of nature and the extent of the damage that it could cause at the time of the eruption in 79 BC.
