I love antiques but in the US it's very hard to find genuine antiques. My definition is over 100 years but often it's hard to find anything older than me! This is a treasure trove. We visited each day for three days and were still finding things we had not seen before. Martha is a gem and is open to ,a little, price negotiation Found some special things to take home to Oz which she packed beautifully for us Thank you. Loved our visits

Six years ago, (let's call him "my friend") and I were driving through Virginia, visiting wineries and historical sites...stopping in Richmond for a day or two. While my friend is a quiet, contemplative person, I am exuberant and dramatic. Being in the car for many hours for many days, we had covered most of the details of my life (not his), opinions on books we had read, meals we had eaten, movies we had seen. What was left? Oh yes. I got it into my head that I would recite all the poems that I had ever memorized, beginning with a Civil War theme. I began with Oh Captain, My Captain (Whitman) and when I got to Barbara Fritchie (Whittier), I was in full dramatic swing. I declaimed "Shoot if you must this old grey head but spare your country's flag she said!!!) Had I gone too far? Was my introverted companion overwhelmed by my dramatic zeal? He didn't say. When we arrived in Richmond, driving down W. Cary street, I saw a vintage shop filled with clothing, vases, bric-a-brac...my kind of place. I was thrilled to find three Occupied Japan figures of Asian people. They remain the best in my collection. Fast forward six years, my newly again discovered friend and I were driving to Richmond to see the Edward Hopper display at the art museum with the plan to visit Luxor. I remembered the owner who was as warm and welcoming as he was the first time we met. He even remembered what items I had purchased so long ago. Amazing! I was happy that he could offer three more Occupied Japan Asian figures. They were glazed in muted colors with a matte finish... very rare and very beautiful. What was more amazing, they matched the ones that I had bought years before. I was very happy! Overall Luxor Vintage Clothing offers all sorts of fascinating and unusual objects. Their prices are reasonable, the vibe is friendly and inviting. I just may visit again in six years!
