Onondaga Cave

Descend into the depths of Onondaga Cave State Park and drop into a world of wonder: towering stalagmites, dripping stalactites, and active flowstones help make the cave a National Natural Landmark and illustrate why Missouri is often called “The Cave State.” Visitors can take guided tours into the underground wonderland. Open for tours seasonally.

My grandson, age 7, and I toured the cave yesterday. The guide was very informative, friendly, and patient. The cave is absolutely beautiful. The colors range from pear white to bright orange. My grandson loved every minute of the 2 hr tour. A bargain for the experience. Need good walking shoes.

Maramec Spring Park

Spring favored by underwater cave explorers.

Love this park and it's natural beauty. For some reason on our last visit, it seemed like the water was so much more clear and clean than the past few visits. Love walking along the stream up to the farm museum - kids always love looking at all the old farm equipment and home supplies - snacks are available for purchase there as well. The other museum has nice views of what the area was like originally. Out of all our visits, we had never done the driving tour so we did that over the past weekend as well - not a ton to see but interesting enough to do once.
Would definitely recommend a visit here if you have never been! If you plan on feeding the fish, don't forget to bring quarters and little cups to carry the food in.

This has quickly become our favorite site for our group floats trips. They have a large, friendly and helpful staff to accommodate your needs and quickly get you to your sites and your floats. Always on time with the buses to your floats and provide good equipment. Most sites and facilities are well maintained and if there is a problem they are quick to fix it. Look forward to the next stay!

No one here to gain entrance but still a good photo opportunity. The for sale sign on the front tells it all. Off the beaten path and no customers.

Onondaga Cave State Park is one of Missouri's natural wonders.
Tours give plenty of understandable information about the formation of caves, the creatures that live in them and how fragile the underground ecosystem is. Worthwhile trip for older teenagers and adults. Beautiful scenery inside the cave.
If you've got children than Meramec Caverns is a better (although significantly more expensive) choice. Both are off Interstate 44 on the St. Louis side of Missouri.

We recently attended a Friday nite function at this lovely, friendly, pet loving, excellent winery. The wine was wonderful, all the employees were fun, helpful and friendly. Even tho they were selling yummy chicken dinners, they allowed you to bring in your own snacks. The band was great and we all had a fun evening. This Thanksgiving weekend we heard the sad news that Peaceful Bend Winery and the owner's attached home burned totally to the ground. How very sad, they lost everything. Luckily no one or any of their pets were hurt. They've started a Go Fund Me Page. Hopefully they will be able to rebuild one day soon and be better than ever for all of us to enjoy again!!

Huzzah Valley Resort...a place that has their act together! Good management. Things run smoothly, and the customer is always treated with respect and made to feel important. Friendly staff. Grounds and equipment are well care for. For over 25 years we have tent camped here, eaten their great group BBQs, and most importantly floated the Huzzah Creek! (The Huzzah Creek is a spring-fed creek, which the source of is at Dillard, MO.) Awesome clear, cool beautiful water. The Resort rents canoes, rafts and kayaks on the Huzzah Creek and the Courtois Creek. (Paddles and float cushions are included...or if you prefer, a life jacket.) In the past they also offered trail rides on horses, but we focus on the water, so have not paid attention to if this is still available. This place is a family favorite for over two decades now! Mid-Missouri would not be the same without HV (Huzzah Valley Resort), as it is just part of life!
