Strolling, shopping, and sipping tequila along the Malecon boardwalk of Puerto Vallarta is the best way to kick off your vacation. Then hit the cobblestone streets of Old Vallarta to browse the flea market for handmade crafts. The calm, warm waters of the Bay of Banderas make for excellent diving, or you can just watch artists sculpt spectacular creations in the sand. We took a taxi from our hotel. Easy 20-30 ride. Boardwalk itself was really interesting. Great introduction to Puerto Vallarta. We had lunch at a small local restaraunt above the Flea Market - hidden gem.. Good deals at the flea market too!

We spent yesterday evening at Act2 watching and listening to the songs of Rogers and Hammerstein. The performers were enthusiastic and talented and we enjoyed ourselves very much. This is the second show we’ve enjoyed at Act 2. Their shows are great fun and we recommend them if you are in Puerta Vallarta.

Galleria Dante

Art gallery where the newest in classical and contemporary sculptures of many talented artists can be viewed. Great Place to SHOP for great art collection.

There was room after room in this gallery, with both paintings and sculptures. Pretty amazing, but I think it’s too much for one visit. Go a few times and concentrate on a few rooms.
If you go during the South Side Shuffle, you can also have some wine or sangria.
Fabulous restaurant above it overlooking the gallery or the street, depending where you are seated.

We did a local tour and were advised that when this church with the crown on top was located, the sun centres at noon overtop of it and if you face towards the Bay your are looking west with the older Puerto Vallarta is on your left (south) and "newer" part of the Town is on your right. The church is Blessed with ornate decorations including 22 karat gold features. This is a real focal point and historic landmark.

Malecon

We have strolled the Malecon more times than we can count and always find it very interesting. There are LOTS of shops, restaurants, bars, clubs, vendors, peddlars, etc. which help make it so interesting but there are also so many different entertainers, sand sculptors, musicians, artists and other entertaining people to see. The Malecon is about 2km long so plan to spend a few hours when you come to really fully enjoy it; you will be glad you did

The Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe

Beautiful Cathedral featuring its trademark crown of angels.

We visited the church during the afternoon and unbeknownst to us there was a funeral happening although the doors were open. They were collecting offering from the visitors that stood at the back of the church. I would recommend checking the schedule of events at the church before going to view it.

Wow, this beach is beautiful with soft sand and clear blue water! We hired a private Panga (Ralph) from Mismaloya who took us here for a wonderful swim then out to fish. My family loved this setting and could have stayed here for hours. What a great day and place to go.

Old Vallarta

While cobblestone streets along the Malecon add colonial charm, this area also features street vendors and craftsmen.

Reviewed By Saskheat - Saskatoon,SK Canada

If you go to PV you MUST go to Old Town. The cobblestone irregular streets reek of Old World Spanish Charm. Easy and cheap to get to from area hotels by bus, cab or tour.
There are activities, shops and dining of every imaginable type and its perfectly safe day or night. Avoid days when the cruise ships are in for a more intimate feel and better shopping prices.
If this is your first time to PV and you are staying at one of the Hotels to the North, you owe it to yourself to go to Old Town, if for nothing else but just to look around. You will leave with a warm feeling inside :)
