The drive is mostly switchback roads....slow going but worth it. Parking is tight but doable. American bathing suits for men are not permitted...you need to rent one of theirs-you will need a piece of id as a deposit. The baths were 38 degrees but they helped my husbands sore neck.

Eglise Saint-Pierre

The interior of this church is quite stunning and includes several very large and incredibly ornate chapels. The front area by the choir (apologies for not knowing the correct term) is as beautiful a piece of religious architecture as I have seen.
The bulk of the decoration is at ground floor level, but don't forget to look up at the higher walls which are all beautifully painted.
Note: if you like lovely churches like this one, I also recommend a short trip down the road to the beautiful hill village of Eus. The church at the top of the village is also lovely.

La Manufacture du Grenat

The regular market is really great, especially to get your local cheese, veggies, meat, etc. I purchased yellow stripped Catalonia flag ribbon to wrap Christmas gifts. Others at the market are friendly. We are surprised the church at the market square is not listed as an attraction. It was truly amazing inside, steeped in history and religious significance. Note the statue of the madonna with the Catalan flag. I recommend leaving some donations to help with repairs.

The staff of the Tourism Office in Prades is helpful and pleasant. With my girlfriend, we didn't know perfectly the region and they guide us and give us a lot of valuable information for our next walks.
They speak English and Spanish very well, it should be noted.

Prades Square

Reviewed By johnhouston2 - Knaresborough, United Kingdom

I suppose when you have spent the day wandering round the stunning villages of Villefranche de Conflent and Eus, Prades is always going to suffer by comparison.
Having said that, it is a pleasant enough town with plenty of car parks and a good selection of shops. The square is the centre of village life and is quite attractive, with some very unusual looking and rather nice trees. There are also a couple of bars/cafes where you can indulge in a lazy bout of people watching.
By far the most impressive building is the church, which is well worth a visit.

Bar du Marche

Only visited here during the day for drinks. Ample shaded Seating outside with a view of the main square for people watching. Service was quick and friendly. Plenty of inside Seating, clean modern decor with interesting comic artwork from the Spanish cartoon artist Juano Guarnido. They only have a single toilet for the premises which is very compact so it's a bit of a squeeze and there might be a queue.
