Mazet Confiseur

This is the home of praline almonds—a crunchy delicacy a local chef invented in the time of Louis XIII involving toasted almonds in melted sugar. This shop has been in existence since 1903 and offers, alongside the fabled pralines, a wide assortment of chocolates and other confectioneries, like Amandas (chocolate almond nougat rolled in cocoa), givrettes (caramelized almonds wrapped in chocolate) and grezons (toasted hazelnuts in white chocolate). People come from across France to buy from the originals, and the sweet-toothed are encouraged to sample while admiring the atmospheric decor evoking the era in which the sweetmeat was invented. Worth a visit if you’re in the area (Montargis itself, for that matter—it calls itself the “little Venice” of France, because of its lacework of canals—is a pretty walk on a sunny afternoon).

Church architecture is almost always interesting, Montargis Sainte-Madelaine church really does merit a visit. parts of it dating back to the 12th & 13th century the rest 16th century it was part restored in or around 1860 when the stained glass windows were all replaced - they are quite spectacular. Further restorations in 2010 & 2013 have seen the interior beautifully decorated. Grand proportions of this light filled edifice are quite exceptional.

Grand labyrinthe à l'intérieur mais tarif pas assez attractif d'où l'importance de constituer des groupes de personnes.
