Visiting Frydlant castle is something different than visiting Castles on the other side of the very close Polish border, as somehow in Czech Republic the furniture and the collections were not looted and can still be found inside and viewed during the castle tours. As the castle is quite old (oldest parts from the XIV century I think) and big, it has a lot to offer to the visitors. You can only see it on a guided tour that start frequently once a group is formed and this makes the experience only better, as the guides are knowledgable and share many facts. If you like history, architecture or Castles, you will enjoy it. Please note that the guided tour takes approximately 1.5 hours, so plan accordingly.

Pseudo-Renaissance building built in the late 19th century, dominates the town. The central space is a ceremonial hall with three-part stained glass windows and original furniture. A part of the town hall is also a 48 meters high tower with a clock mechanism and an observation gallery open to public. Every hour you can hear chime sounds with different tunes from the top of the tower.

This small brewery produces the superb Albrecht range of highly individual beers. I believe tours are by prior arrangement but we were lucky enough to tag on to one which was about to start. Tasting comes first, followed by a guided tour. Parts of the interesting buildings are still under reconstruction and fittings etc from the 1920s are still present. The modern production facilities offered more tastings direct from the storage vats. Bottling is still by hand apparently. There is a small restaurant which of course has the full range of beers available, serves superb pizzas and sells the bottled beers and souvenirs. Well worth a visit!

Miasto Frydlant znane jest głównie z przepięknego zamku. Ale pewnie nie wszyscy turyści z Polski wiedzą, że jest w nim jeszcze inne miejsce warte zajrzenia. Jest to maleńki domek w pobliżu supermarketu Lidla, w którym eksponowany jest tzw. Betlem, czyli po naszemu szopka betlejemska.
Sceny związane z narodzeniem Jezusa, zostały wykonane przez miejscowego rolnika (z drewna oraz kartonu) i są one pokazane w scenerii Gór Izerskich.
W szopce, na powierzchni ok. 8,5 m.kw., umieszczono 180 figurek ludzi i zwierząt, z których 130 jest poruszanych za pomocą mnóstwa sznurków od sprężynowego mechanizmu napędzanego korbą.
Atrakcja głównie dla dzieci, ale i dorośli nie będą się nudzić ...
Ceny biletów wstępu (z ładnym zdjęciem szopki) są raczej symboliczne (20 i 10 koron), a sprzedaje je (i uruchamia szopkę) pan mieszkający po drugiej stronie chodnika ...

Informacja turystyczna we Frydlancie znajduje się w zabytkowej kamieniczce przy samym rynku. W środku można sobie poszperać w licznych, rozłożonych folderach. Dyżurująca, młoda pracownica była bardzo miła i uczynna ale ... ni w ząb nie mówiła po polsku. Nie było to specjalną przeszkodą w porozumiewaniu się, ale - uwzględniając bliskość granicy i bardzo duży, procentowy udział turystów z Polski - jednak trochę mnie to zdziwiło. Za to wśród pracowników obsługujących frydlancki zamek z przyjemnością słyszało się czystą polszczyznę: od przewodniczki po kasę i parking ...

In the second floor of the town hall is a museum with Exhibitions of regional history and nature. It includes collections of importand artefacts of famous citizens and also many historical everyday-life objects that show us how people lived in previous time.

Muzeum zajmuje tylko 1 piętro ale posiada sporo eksponatów. Pokazuje w skrócie historii miasta. Muzeum zwiedza się samemu i nie ma wyznaczonych godzin wejść.
8. MEstske muzeum Spitalek
Originally a burgher hospital, founded in 1561, currently serves as a permanent exhibition of historical development of the town of Frydlant.There are stored unique foundations of a medieval bread furnace from the 16th century, which were found during reconstruction of the building and included in the exhibition. In the museum yard, there stands a working replica of the furnace.
