The 8 Best Things to Do in Culebra, Puerto Rico

October 31, 2017 Nicolette Lion

Culebra is somewhat of the anti-tourist destination, harboring no large hotels or flashy vacation bells and whistles. The beaches are stunning stretches of white sand, great for sunning, windsurfing and diving. The culture and architecture are just as colorful as the waters of the bright blue sea. Stroll around downtown for a truly quaint afternoon activity.

Flamenco Beach

A pleasant beach on the northern coast of Culebra.

Although the small places to buy things are still closed, you can rent an umbrella, which is recommended! The route there is golf cart friendly, but it's not the smoothest ride....This beach is just stunning, and that's from someone who is accustomed to the beauty of Cape Cod! The surf is considerable here, this is a dynamic beach (unlike the calm serenity of Zoni). Parts of it are still closed for walking.

My husband and I visited this island for the first time in July. We spent a weekend there and had such a wonderful experience beach hopping. The water was so clear in all the Beaches we went to and the scenery was breathtaking. I can't wait to go back!!! I visited Tamarindo, Flamenco, and Zoni.

Out of all the Beaches I went to on Culebra this one was by far the best! Even better than Flamenco Beach! I was there on a Tuesday and I had the entire Beach to myself! It was a wonderful experience and I can't wait to go back.

Tamarindo Beach

In our visit to Culebra on August 7-10, 2017 we went to Tamarindo Beach. This beach is best for kayaking and snorkeling. For me this is a nice place, not crowded. You can enjoy this place that is equally beautiful to the other Beaches in Culebra without the noise of Flamenco.
As the other non-popular Beaches, bring everything you need for the day to this beach, since there are no Kiosks or stores close to it.

Brava Beach

Short 30 minute hike through a canopied trail to get to this beach. We are experienced hikers and were able to easily carry a bag of beach supplies and navigate the trail in flip flops. Hike was nice, payoff was huge! We walked this beach and climbed the lava rocks for at least 2 1/2 hours and saw one couple on the trail as they left the beach. We were completely alone on this gorgeous beach!

Playa Punta Soldado Beach

Reviewed By loonwatchers1993 - Bangor, Maine

This is a small, quiet beach that faces west and is sheltered from the easterly winds. We liked the views and solitude. It is more rocky than sandy. We enjoyed the snorkeling on both sides though I wouldn't call it the best snorkeling on the island. It is a pretty place and is well worth the drive. The dirt road was a little bumpy, but not too bad. It seems to have been worked on in recent years. A good place to enjoy sunsets.
