The scenery from Salta to south of Cafayate is awesome. The rock formation with different hues are fascinating. It is like pleated colorful silk unfold as we approach...green, light green, yellow, brown, red..contrast with clear deep blue sky. Majestic!
Walking up high on the Ruins de Quilmes is awesome. I admire how brave Inca were to protect lands from invaders centuries ago.
Breakfast and lunch picnic while stay close to the beautiful nature is extraordinary.
The flowers, fauna, cactus, orchid in the arid land are worth exploring

A unos 40 km de Tafí del Valle, camino a Amaicha, se encuentra el observatorio de Ampimpa. Transitar con cuidado, pues el camino si bien pavimentado esta muy poceado y con animales sueltos.
Las experiencias pueden ser tanto de día, para contingentes o niños con un tour guiado, como nocturnas. En esta ultima posibilidad puedes alquilar rusticas cabañas y levantarte a las 4 de la mañana y poder observar las distintas constelaciones Es conveniente prever días de buen clima y cielo nítido para ello.
Los baños son limpios y con agua caliente y el personal se limita al libreto. Adjunto fotos. ¿ te fue útil ?

Este enero 2018 lo recorrimos viniendo desde Amaicha a Tafi del Valle con una neblina tupida que solo permitía ver a 5 km.de distancia no obstante lo disfrutamos ya que ese camino lo hemos hecho en muchas oportunidades. Esta vez le agregamos la tensión y misterio que supone esa inclemencia del tiempo y que amerita cuando el camino es sinuoso, de gran altura y muy transitado. PERO VALE LA PENA ESTAS AVENTURAS!!

In this times of revalorization of the Indigenous Art (meaning art from the original inhabitants of the Americas) this is a great place to visit.
It is a cultural reference about the local people. But it is also an artistic reference that no-one should skip.
The creator of the museum and principal artist is Mr. Héctor Cruz. As a native, he was sucessful to reflect the cultural heritage of his ancestors. He is a scuplter, principally, as well as painter. He composed from scratch, the mininful sculptures and art of the museum. He was autodidact, lernt by doing, and it seems, he was born with great talent.
In his museum you can live, see and understand the memories of rituals to honour the earth, the Gods and milenary mistic, the geology of the region, the nature of the region and how local native indigenous used to live at home and in community.
This museum is the reflex of the 35 years work of this man, who wants us to understand and value in the present the cultures that give the spirit to this land.
I clasify this for friends, but keep in mind, that you'll only enjoy this if you open your mind and heart to the forgoten and and now alive past heritage, so it can be enjoyed in any situation when this condition is complied.

his is a canyon located 5km from the town of Amaicha and is accessed via Los Zazos. It's easy to get there as there are a couple of buses morning and afternoon that drop you about 2km away. This is the water source for the Amaicha town water. The canyon walls have repelling points and the waterfall is lovely a refreshing respite from the Amaicha sun. It's a good leisurely day trip if you pack a picnic lunch or you can go on a horseride.

We did not do the hike up there, but had a ride. If you've got the whole day in Amaicha, it's worth a stop in.

Adentrarse en un desierto, siempre es inquietante, porque hay que hacerse parte del lugar, para poder entender la inmensidad de la soledad.
Mis expectativas eran altas, ya que alli se filmo una gran pelicula Argentina, "Aballay, el hombre sin miedo" y no me defraudo...El lugar es increible, pero solo seria un paisaje mas, sin las explicaciones del guia Nativo Sebastian Pastrana, que nos hablo sobre el pasado y el presente del lugar, sobre su gente, dandole vida a lo que parecia no tenerlo....,dandole movimiento a la quietud, dejandonos vivenciar, cada uno y a su modo, lo que el Desierto nos despertaba.
Al regreso, nos abrio su rancho, con gran hospitalidad ,un abuelo, Don Shivido, que vive con su hermano,en el medio de la "nada", alli tomamos la merienda campera, y escuchamos sus "casos" y nos regalo unas coplitas.
Asi que con amigos, con la panza y el corazon lleno, volvimos a Amaicha,...
Absolutamente Inolvidable....
Gracias Comunidad Amaichense por mantener sus raices, que son las mias, que son las nuestras...

se alza este monumento increíble en honor a nuestros pobladores originarios que aún hoy después de tantos siglos habitan estos lugares y ayudan como todos los demás a hacer grande este HERMOSO PAIS!! Amamos a nuestros pueblos originarios y valoramos su cultura a la cual acompaño desde hace muchos años. Este lugar es increíble!! con su río, sus cascadas, su vegetación, sus lianas y flores y la exposición de hermosos objetos realizados por manos de excelentes artesanos de la zona. UNA BELLEZA NATURAL INUSITADA!!
