Ledges Overlook

Starting off at the Visitors' Center, the helpful ranger told us that this was her favorite place in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. It was mine, too. We were there on a warm September morning and took our time going through it, as there is so much to see. There are also some short cuts around some of the more treacherous parts or you can just stay on the flatter areas. It's truly a hike for anyone.

64 with a bad wheel. Started off on the boardwalk and steps to falls. Very nice. Figured I would complete the trail, almost 2 miles. Started off flat and they get you to commit. Then you walk down 190ft on roots and rocks. Coming back up, was high steps and a somewhat smooth path. 35F with fleece and I was sweating. I survived. Good workout.

Szalay's is always a pit stop when we bike the Cuyahoga Valley National Park trails! It's located right beside the Hunt Farm Visitor Information Center on Bolanz road. It's about 3.4 miles from the Northern Lock 29 trail head and about 1.4 miles from the Ira trail head if you're coming from the southern part of the trail. We are practicing social distancing and did wear masks. Most were wearing a mask. It wasn't very crowded when we stopped because it was close to closing time on a Tuesday evening. We did feel safe. I hope they can stay afloat so we don't loose this gem of a farmers market! Give them a stop if you're on the trail! You won't be disappointed.

Century Cycles

Our family of five brought bikes to ride on the Towpath Trail. I (adult male) was the only one that needed to rent a bike. Gentleman working there was friendly, quickly got me a bike (no one else was in the store at the time it seemed). He made an adjustment on the bike and it was ready to go. I mentioned we were looking to bike to the Beaver Marsh and he gave me good directions to get to the trail and head in the right direction. Rented for two and half hours which came to about $26. We had just bought my wife's bike second hand and purchased the wrong size handlebar grips for it before our visit to the Towpath. Century Cycles had the correct size grips that were comfortable for $11 (similar grip prices to some that I had seen on Amazon or Walmart). The gentleman took the old grips off the bike and put the new ones on in about 5 minutes with no additional charge. Great service and so happy to have the correct grips on the bike! Recommend Century Cycles!

Very scenic, interesting history. Make sure to stop at Szalay's Farm and leave time for a hike in the metro parks as there are many trail heads in the area.

Boston Store Visitor Center

Reviewed By WiseWomanWanderer - Mount Orab, United States

If you plan to do a lot of hiking during your visit to Cuyahoga Valley National Park, then I highly suggest the trail guide from this visitor center. It is totally worth the $18! The park also has a brochure called Cuyahoga Valley and a quarterly "newspaper" which you can pick up for free while you are at the visitor center. The brochure has a large map and the "newspaper" has addresses. I used all three to plan my daily visits. I spent about 6 hours in the park each day during my 4 day vacation. I would not have seen nearly as much without the trail guide. Make this place your first stop upon arrival in the park! The new center is located right on the towpath and the Cuyahoga River not far from Blue Hen Falls. The covered observation deck allows you to get up close and personal with the river. Inside, the informative displays show the park layout and history well. The visitor center also has a small collection of gifts and souvenirs. Because I love raccoons (I am permitted to rehabilitate raccoons in Ohio), I picked up a stuffed raccoon for my small stuffed raccoon collection!
