Burgoyne Reserve is a park on the water front at Williamstown, facing the Strand. It's quite a pleasant piece of grass. The Royal Australian Navy (RAN) anchor is impressive, contact derails are given if you want to find out more about it. The water is quite tricky with dangerous rocks, it's best to stay on dry land. Three or four black swans were floating around, which may interest Europeann visitors, who have white swans. By the way, the birds' digestion is upset by highly refined foods, please don't feed them, especially white bread.

Charles Bates Reserve is on the Strand, on the waterfront at Williamstown. You can get a good view out across the bay, including the Port of Melbourne. The grass is thick, kids will find it a good place to play. There's a brand new piece of playground equipment, in the shape of a large boat, in keeping with Williamstown's maritime heritage. There were a lot of kids taking advantage of the good weather to clamber all over the play-boat.
