The studio style apartments are located in Mundaka, in the heart of the Basque Coast with nice views to the sea. Just half hour drive from Bilbao, the complex's fully equipped apartments fearure a dining room, bathroom with a shower and hairdryer and kitchen. Further in-room amenities include free WI-FI, cable TV, direct dial telephone and central heating. There is also a lift and private parking service. The lobby is located on the ground floor, guests will be able to enjoy with the charming chimney while they watch cable TV, surf the web in Internet Corner or read a book in the reading zone. There is also a tourist information point. Restaurants and bars are just a short walk from the hotel, and links to the local public transport network are 200 m from the complex. Guests looking to top up their tans can do so on the hotel's sun terrace. Guests can also choose to go surfing and mountain biking. Lovely apartments but need fans
Reviewed By Lucia SThese were lovely apartments, in a brilliant location. It was a minute to the small beach and we could see the sea from our apartment. There is a bus stop from Bilbao just outside and shops about 2 minutes away. Firstly the good. The apartment was clean and well furnished. There was a job, microwave, washing machine and dishwasher. Lots of pots and pans too! The balcony was big and has a lovely view. There was free, fast WiFi and the beds were comfy. We did get new sheets and towels(though only twice, on the last 2 days of our stay!) Check in was fast and reception spoke English. The receptionists were very friendly. However as mentioned on other reviews, the nights were warm and there was no air con or fans available so I hardly slept that week. When I left the balcony open I got bitten by mosquitos and the noise of the road and a dog was loud. Our shower didn't drain (room 34) and even though we mentioned it to reception, it didn't get fixed so we had to make a plunger. Overall we loved it here and will come back again, and learn to surf!

Hotel is Conveniently located, very clean with great friendly service. Maria and Fidel were helpful, kind and very nice, ask for them. Easy walking distance to all attractions, bars, restaurants and shops. My absolute favorite is Txiringito Atalaia, a small friendly bar in the main open area park setting near the coast next to the church. The proprietor, Unbelin, will go out of his way to make sure you have a great time, including singing, dancing, joking and yes good drinks. I will definitely return!

Great location, Nice Small Hotel
Reviewed By bougainvillaMundaka is a very small village overlooking a pretty bay, which on a good swell day, has epic surf -- unfortunately there was no surf on the day be visited. Hotel Atalaya is perched at the plaza overlooking the sea, next to a lovely church. It has a historic look from the outside but the rooms were dated, old fashioned, but clean and serviceable. We had a wonderful room on the top floor on the corner overlooking the plaza with the sea view in the distance, and a wrap around balcony. The hotel offers free gated parking which is a draw, especially during the summer peak season. We were there in October and there was plentiful street parking during the weekday, but it was nice to have a secure parking lot. The staff were helpful and friendly, with English skills sufficient for communication. The breakfast was simple and reasonably priced, fresh squeezed orange juice, made to order espresso, pastry, fruit, cereal, deli meats and cheese, and a warm egg torta dish. Since we visited in the off peak season, stores and restaurants were closed, so eating options were limited. There were no English speaking channels on the TV that we could find. The hotel has a very small elevator, mostly for luggage, and the climb to the top floor was a bit of a haul. All said, this was a nice one night stop and I would recommend this hotel.

Very tight spaces and difficult parking
Reviewed By 393karamCamp ground has all the necessary and clean amenities although the pitches are very very small with zero privacy. The space is very small and they try and stay ordered by assigning everyone a parking spot. Basically there is one parking space per camping pitch and they aren’t together. However on our second day here someone was in our spot. They did nothing to resolve this issue leaving us with no place! They had a very “not our problem attitude” despite the fact we paid to have our car there. Very inconvenient and defeats the purpose of having assigned spots. Definitely won’t stay here again because of this issue. Too bad because it’s a nice area

Reviewed By PatG3Only one night here thank goodness. So noisy, you literally hear all your neighbours breathing!!! The staff have absolutely no personality. Our room faced a wall!! Even the bar staff were long faced. But mundaka is cute and great for surfers. Great restaurant opposite the hotel to the right and upstairs. Thank heavens for a terrific meal otherwise I would have been very unhappy. Hair dryer broken, water everywhere when you had the shower.

Falling in love with Mundaka
Reviewed By Jon SMy grandparents were born in Mundaka in the early 1900s. I got to see the homes they grew up in, not far from this hostel. My mom's cousin owns a hotel at the entrance to the town, but the hostel is much more affordable and perfect if you want to keep things simple.
