We went to Oakdene on a rainy Sunday the day of the Geelong wine event. We met Brett who was awesome and fun. He told us his "older brother" Steve would be at the Geelong event so we made sure to say hi. Great blokes and great wine.

After an unfortunate mix up with a booking, the staff at scotchmans more than made up for the computer error. As always the wine and food were amazing, as were the views. kids loved the pasta & we both enjoyed the lamb, which went perfectly with the scotchmans Pinot noir. Special thanks to Ruth who made sure we were looked after ❤️

This winery is a short stroll from the Big 4 holiday park making it very easy for us to roll down with the kids and friends for a tasting, followed by a glass of wine and a cheese platter on the deck while the kids played. There are interesting sculptures for the kids to look at and a large flat area where they kicked a ball and threw a frisbee. The staff are very welcoming and the wines very good, especially the rose, pinot noir and shiraz.

We booked a late lunch over the Easter weekend and prepaid for a 5-course, set tasting menu (I believe pre-payment isn’t usually required, however it was required during the Easter weekend). We arrived 15 minutes early for our allocated seating time, and were subsequently seated at a bar table. Whilst waiting for our table, we were recommended the Provenance Sparkling Shiraz which was one of the best sparkling shirazes we've tasted in a long time. Much lighter than a pinot noir, soft and sparkling with a beautiful bouquet....recommend trying if you enjoy a sparkling Shiraz, or even if you don’t! The set menu we enjoyed over lunch consisted of freshly baked bread served with cultured butter, confit duck, slow cooked lamb shoulder, kangaroo tartare on a nori crisp (not necessarily in that order), including a shaved salad with apple and finished with an alternative drop of chocolate, buttermilk icecream, and a eucalyptus meringue, berries and elderflower cream. I can't express enough how beautifully made and plated all courses were. This was a taste sensation, incredibly appetising, surprisingly quite filing, and all dietary requirements were met without any issues at all. We did encounter some ‘hiccups’ (pardon the pun), prior to lunch and at the end of lunch, and without going into details, they were rectified. Despite that, we would definitely return to Provenance Winery; it is without a doubt, outstanding in our eyes.

Make sure you book ahead for a meal at Basil's Farm. We had an outside table on a sunny day, under the fig tree overlooking Swan Bay. We can highly recommend the cheese platter and $40 the shared platter that came with freshly toasted bread. Try the local wines in the bar- they were fabulous. The 2 platters plus a bowl of their fat chips was enough for lunch for 4 people and 2 small children. If you forget to book, you'll get a rug to sit on the lawn. Friendly and efficient service. Dogs are welcome.
