After a short train ride (180 yen, one stop) from the central Nagoya station we took a free shuttle provided by Kirin. The beer park provides a free tour that lasts about 2 hours. It explains the history of Kirin beer, and the brewing process. The tour guides do not speak English. But a simple hand-out is provided that you can use to easily follow along. Not to reveal too much, but it was interesting to learn Kirin was orginated by an American. The best part of the tour ended with several free samples of your choice (non-alcoholic beverages too, if you so wish). However, due to the 2-hour limit (and they are always on time), it was a bit of a rush to leisurely taste them.

JR取手駅東口から徒歩７分位の場所にあります。藁葺屋根がみごとです。無料なのは良いのですがいつ開いているかよくわからないところが残念です。

This fireworks display is held every summer in the city of Toride in southern Ibaraki Prefecture, also known as a bedroom community for Tokyo. The event began more than 60 years ago to commemorate the opening of the Tone River Bridge. At the venue in Toride Ryokuchi Undo Park on the banks of the Tone River, roughly 7,000 fireworks are launched into the night sky over the grand Tone River, filling it with multicolored light and sound. The highlight of the display is the Niagara Falls, which pours down sparks from 20 meters in the air over a length of 300 meters. Viewers are dazzled by displays of long series of mortar shells and star mines bursting one after another.

友達と行ってみました。ふれあい桟橋から小堀まで１００円です。１時間毎に船が出ています。友達と２人だけでしたが、取手の緑地運動公園を川から見ての自然を心地よい風に吹かれながら、昔の利根川が蛇行をし水害被害があったという話を聞き、現在がこのようになって観光船となり運航してるのはありがたいですね。童心に帰れた気分でした。

初めて行きました。JR取手駅東口から徒歩５分以内で行くことができました。高台の森のなかにある寺院という印象で、駅から近いのに静寂に包まれていました。

取手駅から無料バスが出ているが、駅には案内が見当たらなかったのでバス停の場所は予めホームページ等で要確認。
ホームスタンドは一般客でも2階に上がって観戦できるように設計されていて、レースを見やすい。
3～4コーナースタンド下の車券売り場も綺麗に整備されている。全体的な老朽化はやむを得ないが、普通に行動している限りは快適にレースを観戦できる。
内陸にある競輪場だが、なぜか鉄火巻きが有名。また、最終レースが近づくと食事の値引きが始まり、売り込みも激しくなる。そういう空気も含めて楽しめると思う。

This shrine is surrounded by a thick circle of trees, and planted right in central Toride. The buildings are beautiful, and the majesty of the location is simply stunning.
