Pocomoke River State Park

The 14,753 acres of this scenic park is famous for its loblolly pine and cypress swamps that border along the Pocomoke River, providing visitors with many outdoor activities such as fishing, boating, camping and hiking.

My partner and I visit both sides of the park for kayaking and biking. The pictures are from the Milburn Landing side.

I recall many family picnics here from my youth. The park has remained pretty much unchanged with the exception of updated playground equipment and new bathrooms.

The beauty and serenity of this place are impressive. I'm saddened to see what was formerly a crowded, busy place now close to deserted (at least when we visit). I guess it's just a sign of our times sadly.

Nature lovers, you will be very pleased here. On our bike ride yesterday, I saw 5 deer, but scared them off before I could take a picture.

Pocomoke River Canoe Company

Paddle gently in one of our Old Town canoes or kayaks through shady caverns of foliage. Novice or experienced paddlers will find the flat water Pocomoke River a delight! See the sun-dappled surface glisten as you paddle past fallen logs, clusters of pink or white blossomed water lilies, or the exposed "knees" of the bald cypress. The Pocomoke River corridor is home to the northernmost reaches of the cypress, and provides a selection of various wildlife species that are usually found only in more southern regions.

The staff did everything to provide us with a splendid experience. Some outfitters will rent you kayaks that have seen better days; not so the Pocomoke River Canoe Company - their gear is excellent.

The Pocomoke River is absolutely beautiful and sublimely peaceful.

I highly recommend this outfitter and this river to anyone who enjoys the outdoors

Talk about getting away from it all. This cruise takes you some five miles upriver from Snow Hill, MD. 350 year old cypress trees, eagles, herons, turtles, beavers and more. The captain gives a great tour. Just sit back and let all your cares fall away for a few hours. Just be with the river. Loved it.

Miss Patti Cake made our wedding cake. It was hands down best tasting cake ever! And she wonderfully created a beautiful cake. Can't wait to buy future anniversary or birthday cakes from her. Worth the 45 minute commute, if even for just a cupcake!

THis museum is a treasure trove of the history of this town and many similar ones in the 19th and early 20th Centuries, lovingly collected but expertly displayed. I expected to spend a quarter of an hour in this small museum, but reluctantly left after an hour.

We were out walking thru town w/our lab and found that this gllaery/shop on W. Green St is beyond dog-friendly. Ann, the owner even went next door to her husband's office and brought her dogs over for a play date. She was totally unflappable about the dogs running all around the gallery and even got our dog a bowl of her own water. In addition she explained all about the monthly rotating artist exhibit and the First Friday openings and wine tastings.
She told us about her wine selections and wine club which seems to be a great value if you live close enough for a pick up each month. In addition to the featured artists in the front of the gallery, she had work of other artists, including jewelry & reasonably priced cards and post cards. We all felt so welcomed & had such a great time & came away w/cards and wines. We definitely hope to return and recommend a stop if you are nearby.
