Pretty enough and if you can scale up the tight stairway the views are amazing. Was charged £5 for taking photos which is extortionate. No one outside the ladies when I went in then as I was seated I was called out for money. No lock on the saloon bar type door. Felt a little uncomfortable.

Iglesia Parroquial Mayor del Espiritu Santo

Built between 1817 and 1892 and now being restored, it is the largest church in Cuba.

First of all, this is a review about the church at Plaza Mayor in the city of Trinidad, which is called “Church of the Holy Trinity” (Iglesia Parroquial de la Santísima Trinidad), NOT “Iglesia Parroquial Mayor del Espiritu Santo”. The latter is apparently located in Sancti Spiritus. I hope that TripAdvisor will correct the name of this church, as apparently most of the reviews here are about the church in Trinidad.
This church dates from 1892 and was built on the site of a previous church, destroyed by a cyclone in the 19th century. Inside the church there are plenty of various statues, but the most famous was a wooden statute of Christ, “The Lord of the True Cross (El Señor de la Vera Cruz). When in the 17th century the statue was being shipped to a church in Veracruz, Mexico, the ship carrying it was pushed back to Trinidad three times by bad weather; only after abandoning some of its cargo (including the statue) was it able to continue its journey. Perceived as divine intervention, the local population decided to house the statue of Christ in the church. The church also has an impressive altar dedicated to Our Lady of Mercy (Nuestra Senora de la Piedad). On Saturday we attended the evening mass.
Perhaps this is not a spectacular church, but certainly worth a visit.

Parque Serafin Sanchez

The street around the park are full of colourful Spanish era buildings, bars, restaurants and shops. Worth a visit, especially for the cigar factories. I have been told there are 8 in the town, but we visited the Constantin Pineda or Pinera factory. All the factories wrap a variety of cigar brands depending on the tobacco being wrapped. You can purchase cigars at some of the factories or at shops usually in the immediate area. If you are lucky, a worker will offer to sell you cigars out front of the factories. This is usually safe since workers are allowed to take one box of cigars home each week and are allowed to sell them. We did not do this in Sancti Spiritus but did later in Trinidad and got decent prices.

In Cuba there are countless opportunities to sample issues about the Revolution. The difference here is that there is emphasis on the struggle to contain the counter-revolutionary elements of the 1960s. The building is the former St Francis of Assisi Convent. This means that after absorbing the museum exhibits there is the bell tower to climb which gives wonderful views over the town both towards the sea and inland. A visit here is highly recommended.

This is a nice walk- when looking out you see scenes that would not look out of place in India but there is a feeling of going back in time - not least in that this is as far as the ubiquitous horse drawn carts are allowed to come from the station. Pleasant 10 minuites

In this city the kids don't have to many places to go. This one is okey. But personally I was feeling bad because of the animal's conditions. At least they can have a portion of food every day, at least they can survive, but I think the people who work here can have better attention to these poor animals.
For other side, it's good to visit with the family or friends, and for the kids is perfect, they can learn and have interactions with the nature.
