A beautiful white facade and bell tower/spire the church is seen from a great distance around the mountain roads and even I think from the air on the way from Manizales to Bogota. The interior is also stunning with a large nave. The architect was William Martin, an Englishman.
It is on the side of a lovely square, full of life and surrounded by some of the beautiful typical buildings of Salamina.

The road to the wax palm forest is unpaved but suitable for all cars in dry weather. When you get there there is only one basic restaurant and that's the way it should stay. Unfortunately if they pave the road and lots of people go it will fill up with lots of businesses selling things and the beauty of the place will be lost. The palms make the landscape very unique, much nicer than Salento where there are too many people.

Salamina is relatively unspoiled although not quite as impressive as Jardin or Jerico. There are some highlights not to miss. For example artesanias - Las maderas de Ruben in the main square and Arteclavos. There is an interesting museum of antiques and I think it was our first computer museum.
