An interesting friendly little town with its iconic arched bridge - much longer than you would possibly expect. Some interesting bronze artwork near the river and some not so interesting metal and plastic 'cut-out' Roman Soldiers near the bank illustrating a legend about Legionnaires being afraid to cross until encouraged by their leader (depicted on horseback on the far bank).
Ample car parking - worth a visit.

OK, the surrounding area is really great, and the castle is actually not bad, but they could do something to attract more visitors, especially those who are not fluent in Portuguese. The castle is small, but the 1€50 entrance fee can't buy you a coffee in Belgium, and we didn't feel like paying too much. But the displays in the tower, although interesting, were only in Portuguese... Anyway, it was a nice break, and don't forget the dozen or two of espigueiros next to the castle: picture time

I was accompanied during a guided trail (trilhos) from the interpretation center of castle Lindoso.
Aside from the granaries, the city is magnificent, everything built in granite stone, all the roads are shaded by overhead grape vines: a city vineyard.
there are public lavatories where people wash clothes, took me back in time.
Lots of Fountains and public water. Have a taste of it: refreshing as the town itself.

We booked a morning padded boarding whilst staying at a local campsite. We were met at reception by Luis, a very friendly man. We sat and chatted whilst waiting for another couple to arrive. Once we were all together the boards were in the water very quickly and a quick into followed. My partner is not great on the water but was soon at ease, the boards are very stable and the views were amazing. We were taken along the river and Luis filled us in with some local information and history of the place. He took lots of pictures and shared them with us via WhatsApp. It was an amazing experience. If you get the chance to try it out, do so.

This campground is a great base for hiking, fishing and relaxation. The facilities are clean and well maintained, the staff is very helpful and friendly, and you are steps away from 2 rivers.

Espaço muito bem decorado e situado na zona histórica da Vila. No interior possui uma garrafeira particular constituída por vinhos do Porto Vintage e Colheitas e vinhos de diversas regiões de Portugal com dezenas de anos. Quem visita este novo espaço em Ponte da Barca tem a oportunidade de degustar excelentes queijos de ovelha e cabra e acompanhar com os melhores vinhos do Alentejo e Douro, além da oferta dos vinhos da Adega local. Tem artesanato certificado, regional e uma Gama de produtos gourmet de qualidade e selecção. Espaço requintado e onde apetece estar. Tem ainda um terraço por cima da loja onde estivemos a degustar tábuas de queijo divinais. Atendimento muito simpático . Gostei e recomendo. Uma boa oferta para os turistas que visitam Ponte da Barca.
