It was ok but very little to do there. It was really small. Not much room to walk the dog even. But for what was there it was a nice beach.

Forest Capital Musem

went with friends we were visiting. learned a lot about trees and forestry. Exhibits were dated but besides that very informative.. includes a "cracker" house also informative but was disappointed to learn that it wasn't from the museum grounds but had been moved. interesting way of life, 2 separate living quarters with a walkway between. would have liked to know more about the WWII airbase and only knew it had been there because of the florida state park ranger

The Book Mart

Reviewed By Booperskp - Amana, Iowa

This is an older building that could use some updating and TLC. However, the owner has certainly got the organization of the books down pat. They are separated by genre, and the most popular authors have sections. They don't pile things around so you have to dig for anything, which is nice.

They also have clothing, jewelry, and accessories in the store. It was an interesting mix of items to look at. The dressing room is kind of small and only a split-type curtain separates you from the store. They have an older house type bathroom in the store also, which could/should be used as the dressing room, as there is plenty of room and it is more private.

The staff present (the owner?) was very helpful, as i was looking for some specific books/authors and she was able to either point me in the right direction or let me they had nothing in the store that matched what I wanted. She was a very nice lady, who even tried to keep the little dog from barking at me...but he persisted.

Clothing Optional Beach

Reviewed By EagleGlobeNAnchor - St. Petersburg, Florida

Mumz and I came up from St. Pete and visited Hagens Cove yesterday (3/17/2018). The ride in off US 19 was serene and beautiful, with purple thistles lining the roadside. Plenty of sunshine, blue water, though not a lot of beach goers, the locals are very friendly. Not sure about clothing optional though, everyone had proper attire.

Picnic tables, shelters, cooking sites, and a unisex bathroom (just make sure you bring your own toiletries.

One can really wade out at this park. I look forward to returning again!

Iron Horse Mud Ranch

Reviewed By 38andco - Sarasota, Florida

Iron Horse Mud Ranch hosted Trucks Gone Wild Dysfunctional Family Reunion. If you like huge mega trucks, and driving through the mud on an atv, this place is a goldmine. There are camping areas, truck play areas, atv only areas, a stage for contests and music, vendors, and so much fun! I drove up from Sarasota for the day on Saturday. We watched the trucks play in the mud holes, the freestyle mega truck contest, and then the bounty hole challenge. Come visit this place for a day or make a weekend out of it. You must pay for the day or weekend, and pricing can range form $40-$60 per person. No glass, no chainsaws, no firearms. All ATVs must have a flag for safety reasons. Once you experience the mud park, you will know why Trucks Gone Wild is so intense! I have photos, but since this is the first review on this place, I cannot find a place to post them!!

We did an ALL DAY trip complete with scalloping and fishing with our two girls (12yr & 8yr) and had an awesome day! Capt Evan helped teach our girls to cast & helped them find scallops all day! Even though we are fixing our own boat up to enjoy weekends away, we will still use Capt. Evan and Apalachee Insores for day trips throughout the year!

There is loads of history in Taylor County, which was settled by pioneers when Florida was still a territory. The historical society in Perry is open one afternoon per week, Thursday from 1-5. Check website for other times. It is a treasure trove of local lore, and if you are lucky one of the locals will be there to answer questions.
