Mt. Gulugod Baboy Trail

Reviewed By Espoo_FinlandMeri - Espoo, Finland

The hike leaves to a road up from Philpan Resort. Close to the starting point you should get a 50 peso permit, although they don't always notice you when you go up.
First road, then after 10 minutes you need to take the path left up, there is a wooden sign for "THIS WAY GULOGOOD BABOY".
Then you have another 45min up, if you are fit, easy to find the route, there are signs. You need to pass some "huts" with people living in them, they sell you Mountain Dew with 20 Peso. There will be other hikers as well.
The way back is a bit steap so don't go there during rain. It gets very steap and slippery.

Sombrero Island

Reviewed By ballyga - Canada

This hidden diving gem on the quiet side of Anilao has spectacular, unspoiled reefs with beautiful soft and hard corals. Ask you dive instructor to take you that extra few kilometers to get better diving - you deserve it. One of these local divers that can arrange this is Allan Umali. He knows all the good spots because he has been a dive master there for years. Currently, he also spends time in Corone for wreck diving.

Basilica of St. Martin de Tours

Yes it is another church but the history that is associated with this building is part of it charm. Also if you like photography you can get some very nice shots of the interior and exterior of the building. Take you time be respectful, after this is still a church where the local go to worship.
It does sadden me a to think that the Catholic Church and the Vatican have so much money and this poor historical building is in need of some TLC to help it stand for many years to come.

Planet Dive

Reviewed By Leo C - Las Vegas, Nevada

Planet Dive is an excellent resort for diving. You can see real reviews on its true Trip Advior page under Specialty Lodging in Mabini. The review by “Charles121223243” written on this page was made by Mr. Kirill Babaev, a linguist from Moscow, Russia. Kirill Babaev has another Trip Advisor account --- “cyrllo”, supposedly from Norway. Kirill Babaev is in the habit of making false Trip Advisor accounts in order to discredit people and establishments with which he has personal issues with. Fortunately his reviews are exactly like his character --- clearly lacking in honesty, substance and credibility.
In May 2013 Kirill Babaev went on a 10 day tour around the Philippines that included a trip to Planet Dive where he had a fantastic time. When it was time to check out of the resort however, he claimed that his bill was higher than what he was quoted. That claim is not true and there are only two explanations for Kirill Babaev’s reaction: 1) he was not paying attention when the price was quoted, or 2) he is in the habit of lying in order to avoid paying in full.
At the end of the day, Kirill Babaev lied to his tour provider three times. First, he said that he ran out of cash to pay in full because he paid more than he expected at Planet Dive. But he actually paid the resort with his credit card and did not use any cash there. Second, he said that since he did not have enough cash he would pay the remainder of his tour cost via bank transfer. Third, a few hours after he said that, he emailed that he had already ordered the fund transfer. He actually never ordered the fund transfer and never paid fully for his tour.
Obviously, reviews written by Mr. Kirill Babaev, as “Charles121223243”, “cyrllo”, or any other of his invented Trip Advisor personae are as unreliable and dishonest as the person who wrote them.

Taal Heritage Village

Reviewed By Elias G - Tarlac, Philippines

The entire place seems small, very historical, peaceful and very old. You can reach all the market, plaza, Basilica of St. Martin, Caysasay Church and their little commercial area by just walking. Roads are narrow similar to those of Intramuros. The place is great but there's so little to do. The main attraction is the Basilica of Saint Martin, a must to visit for everyone.

Our first visit to Anilao and we did not know what to expect. Eagle Point Resort was perfect. It has everything you need there and you would never have to leave. When we got a bit acclimated and wanted to wander we found interesting things to do inside the resort. The room was spotless, roomy, ocean view. The only negative is that this is a huge property. Checking in and out was chaotic. We are already talking about a return trip and would definitely go back there!

The Sicilian Reef and Dive Resort

Manta Ray Dive Wing FIRST AND ONLY IN THE Philippines Experience the thrill of underwater flight with our Manta Ray Dive Wing! Glide through beautiful corals and rock formations just right in front of our resort. Very easy to use. You have full control of the board just point up to surface and inhale, and once you're ready just point down to dive.

A very cozy and private dive resort away from the commercial resorts that line up the famous dive destination south of Manila. The first thing you notice is the calmness of the sea and clear water along with the rich corals and marine life that take sanctuary along its coastline. This resort brags about its unique Manta Ray boarding . For 15 minutes one can experience gliding under the water seemingly like a manta ray .
The brainchid of the resort owner, Mr. Eric Umali , who painstakingly studied and improvised a unique gliding board attached to a moving jetski, one can enjoy the beauty of the underwater for a small fee . Fishes and corals abound within a few feet of its coastline and don't blink because chances are you will come across a sea turtle playing around and some dolphins paying an occasional visit.
I love this place for its privacy and serenity. Come alone, with a partner or with your office staffs for a company team building. There are enough rooms to accomodate everyone. And yes, learn to scuba dive or simply frolic or snorkel. Everything is possible here. Surely not my last!
