This is a great place, the small Waterfalls, the trees, the Mountains, everything is great and the exciting is that you can see all those almost inside the city! Great place to visit, even for a stop during a longer trip.

Hosios Loukas Monastery

This is yet another site which I am amazed that you do not yet have a listing for!!!! It is a 10th c. Byzantine Monastery with the "remains" of "Holy Luke"., a great healer of the 10th c. which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and etc., etc. When you list it on your site, I will write a review of a visit here (which was astounding!!)

Absolutely beautiful monastery complex, definitely worth visiting if you are in the Delphi/Arachova area! The parking lot is tiny though, and fills up with tour busses. I would recommend getting there first thing in the morning if you can, the day we visited there were two busses there by 10:30, and that was going to make it less tranquil.

Lion of Chaeronea

Reviewed By Saltpilgrim - Paros, Greece

Osios Lukas Monastery

Reviewed By AllieMiami - Miami, Florida

We were staying in Arachova and had a few hours to fill. Our hotel suggested taking a drive to the monastery to see something different. It's a beautiful drive through the countryside to get to the monastery.
When we arrived, the ticket office was closed (it was the week before Easter, so schedules were different) but we walked around and discovered that there was a mass going on. We stood in the back to watch the service and it was such a wonderful opportunity to see a Greek Orthodox mass. When the mass ended, we enjoyed coffee and tea in the courtyard. Overall, it was a nice visit and I enjoyed seeing something different from the other sites in Greece.

Medieval Castle Livadia

Reviewed By MuhammadDudha - Dewsbury, United Kingdom

The castle of Livadia is on a 240m high hill, at the south edge of the city.
At the same location, there was an ancient Acropolis. at least since 5th century BC. It was later used -and repaired- by the Byzantines and by the Francs.
The shape of the castle today is from the period that the warriors of the Catalan Company occupied the area. That is why the castle is considered a "Catalan castle", one of the 4 of this kind in Greece
