Isla Espiritu Santo

Witness the beauty of ocean wildlife: this small island teems with dolphins, sea lions and all kinds of fish.

Reviewed By lldekker - San Jose del Cabo, Mexico

This is a must see if visiting La Paz. On your boat trip to the island, which takes about 40 minutes from La Paz, you might be lucky enough to see some whales breach or observe dolphins.frolicking through the water. After following the western shore line north and stopping off at the frigate bird colony, you will reach a few small ragged rock formations, Las Islotes, inhabited by the southernmost California seal colony. You can snorkel, dive and frolick with the pups. Although the water might be cold, it is still a very rewarding experience. Returning to La Paz along the eastern side of the island you will see some amazing rock formations and colours of both volcanic and igneous rock formations. We were entertained by a school of dolphins at the permanent fisherman’s camp. This island is a true gem and if you are able to do a one week sea kayaking expedition along the west shore, you will have an incredible experience!

Balandra Beach

The Beach is beautiful, the major problem that I found is the lack of available parking lot and that there’s no restrooms available; so you should guess your options available when you gotta go... hope the authorities solve this issue because this is a great place to visit in La Paz.

Museo de La Ballena

Wonderful and informational, tours given in both English and Spanish, and touch on whales, turtles, sharks, and other sea critters. Some tour information provided by staff questionable, however staff were passionate about their work and I recommend the tours - where you can actually touch bones and pick up jars of whale eyes (if you want.) Spend 90 minutes with the 50 minute tour!

Malecon

Beachside shopping street, providing you with spectacular views of the palm tree - lined beach as you browse through shops and restaurants.

Reviewed By rpccc43 - Rochester, NY

The Malecon, or break water, runs for approximately 2 KM along the waterfront of La Paz. Walking paths are nicely constructed ( and under construction at the moment) and there are interesting large scale sculptures every few hundred yards. There are numerous bars, restaurants and shops on the opposite side of the street.

The fish tacos are grilled, the cerviche is fresh and the beer is cold! Just perfect. You need a car to get there. Some people took a taxi and had the guy return to pick them up but that might be a bit risky.

Playa Pichilingue (Pichilingue Beach)

Playa Pichilingue is popular for sunbathing, swimming, and sportfishing. Visitors can also enjoy a number of restaurants along the waterfront.

Australian Beaches are beautiful and so Australians are very hard markers when it comes to Beaches. It was interesting to see a beach in a desert, and the water is a beautiful color, but there's not much else going for it. Ok for a couple of hours.

La Paz Cathedral

Built in 1720, this church has both historical and architectural importance for the city.

Reviewed By Luciano L - Placentia, California

From the outside, this is really a nice church. I like the twin bell towers and the outside has that solid, rustic look that are so typical of Mission architecture. From the outside it's really impressive.
However, the inside is anything but. Although the stained glass windows are nice, overall the church is very light on opulence. The religious art and decorations are very sparse. The front of the church has a large cross and some simple religious art. However, there is nothing out of the ordinary, in terms of the church's all around interior. It did not leave me in awe. Just slightly interested. However, being that it is La Paz's oldest church, it's a place everyone should at least stop by to visit, so they can say they have been there.
