We like this place for it's always clean, has good services and various options for both trying sports and leisure in their saunas. It might be full during weekends, but it's perfect during weekdays.

L'Autobus

Reviewed By Trainbleu - Brussels

As the outside Seating area of L’Autobus in the European Quarter was full with people enjoying an after work drink, I went to sit inside because I had some urgent Reading to do. Café L’Autobus is a rather big café divided over two levels, which is rather unusual in Brussels. It isn’t particularly attractive. The tables have badly damaged pinkish marble tops and there are unpleasant spotlights in the ceiling. A large Television screen was showing the recording studio of Radio Contact and playing their music very loudly although the place was empty. Maybe to keep it that way?
The outside Seating area offers views on the busy corner of Place Jourdan and Rue Général Leman, with busses passing very close to the outermost tables. Not the best place to enjoy your after-work beer, you might think. But people flock to L’Autobus for a drink or to devour the overrated chips of the nearby Maison Antoine while catching the very last rays of the fading sun when the opposite side of the square is already in the shade.
It’s a pity the rather elegant steel and glass canopy is spoiled by ugly Stella Artois advertising, topped by a large Leffe sign.

You have to call ahead to arrange a visit. They are housed in an old army barracks building, and have a total of three floors of exhibits. It focuses on the federal police, but also has some local police & military police artifacts. Don't miss the separate building that has a collection of vehicles and a police helicopter.

Vin sur Wijn

Reviewed By nafa2 - Washington DC, District of Columbia

Vin sur Wijn is without a doubt the best bar in the vicinity of Montgomery and Merode, and it's the only wine bar convenient to the area. It's a wonderful place, not only to drink, but also to gain a greater appreciation/education about wine. They are extremely knowledgeable and passionate about wine, and they let you taste before you commit to the glass, so you can learn more about what they have available and make sure you drink something you enjoy. The selection changes frequently.
Their cheese and charcuterie are top quality, and the portions are generous.
The ambiance is modern, yet laid back, and the staff are warm and welcoming. It is surprisingly unpretentious for a place that specializes in fancy wine.
I highly recommend stopping by for a glass, whether you're a local or a tourist visiting the nearby Parc Cinquantenaire.
