Lake Balkhash

Reviewed By JGDynamo - Halifax Region, Canada

Lake Balkhash is a bit of a drive from everywhere but once you get there it is quite beautiful. Not your usual lake/beach vacation style place, lots of fishing going on here as that is a main industry of the area. Still friendly people, nice sandy beach, warm-ish water but murky just from silt, lots of people with rods catching dinner, good bit of infrastructure in the community and we had a fun day and night here.

Monument Tank Т-34

Reviewed By Phillipa S S - Karaganda, Kazakhstan

As a square the place is peaceful, quiet and enjoyable to walk in. If you focus on those scary arms of protection and destruction, it can be scary. Better to come here without memories of wars and terrible sights that these weapons can conjure.

Monument Balgash Starts Here

This one, being the one representing the beginning of Balkhash is quiet and cool, like the city it represents. I could not relate the shapes to a beginning, and there was no one around to ask for the symbolisms of it. An oveflookable structure, but a visit to Balkhash is incomplete if you do not get here.

Locomotive № 48-80

Reviewed By JGDynamo - Halifax Region, Canada

The Locomotive No 48-80 monument in Balkhash is one of the monuments that makes more sense than others as some of the original ore to be processed back in the day had to be brought in by steam locomotive. Clamber up and see, it’s not a bad photo op.

Monument to Dead Soldiers Who Died During the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945

Reviewed By Phillipa S S - Karaganda, Kazakhstan

A tranquil place, welll cared for in loving memory. The stepps here tell the story of the perils of war, on a place overlookkng the lake. Here aged men who must have survived the war come often to remember and to pay respects. While colourfully decorated the place instils respect and introspection, uniting history with the present. In this place you can feel the sad heartbeat of Balkhash.

Space Station Orbita

Reviewed By JGDynamo - Halifax Region, Canada

We headed out a short ways to the Space Station Orbita in Balkhash, there really isn’t much out there but it is a monument of the communication satellites and space exploration done by the soviet countries in the past and looking towards the future.

Monument to 50 Years of Trust Foundation Pribalkhashstroy

The title of this attraction may be longer than most reviews about the monument. It’s not really an attraction, just something from the bygone era put up by a metal company that is in the area. Spend five minutes and continue on.
