The castle of Montsoriu, located in the eastern sector of the Montseny Natural Park and Reserve of the Biosphere, is one of the most relevant examples of medieval military architecture in the Mediterranean region, and it is considered the best Gothic castle in Catalonia. In the mid-14th century viscount Bernat II of Cabrera, admiral and counselor of King Pere III el Cerimonios, transformed Montsoriu castle into a magnificent and completely unassailable Gothic castle palace.
