Platja de l'Estartit

L'estartit is a fantastic place. The big bonus is its enormous free car park next to the huge beach and town centre. The absence of broken car window glass on the car park testifies that few cars are broken into and points to the high calibre of visitors who frequent this resort; many returning year after year. Good quality & reasonably priced accommodation, restaurants, bars & shops are plentiful. Leisure/sporting facilities include: diving at the nearby Medes Islands; jet-ski hire; bicycle hire (to the south the land is flat); horse riding; hiking in the hills behind the town; boat trips or self-drive power boat/sail boat hire to the natural marine park around the islands or into the many coves situated to the north (also accessible over the hills on foot); rock climbing can be undertaken on the Roca Maura behind the town; there is even a nearby airfield for motorised hang-gliding & ultra-light aircraft. Their is a huge & very wide fine sand beach, where if the curse of Covid is still with us you can easily isolate. The 2 beaches are safe & sheltered by the one mile distant Medes Islands & close to the town. Children & non swimmers can walk out a long way into the sea without losing their depth. There is also a naturist beach & a river mouth, if you walk far enough. The road stops at l'Estartit so is gifted with slow moving traffic. Barcelona is easily accessible by good public transport (bus & train) The only negative is that the local ajuntament (council) fail to act on the suggestions of their tourists. On the main Levintana harbour jetty, outwards from the Can Pau bar, there should be a ramp leading onto the beach. I have seen many mothers with puch-chairs & elderly people struggle over the rocks between the jetty & beach. I would like to once again inform the ajuntament (council) that there is potential for an accident here, together with possible litigation under health & safety norms. I'm sorry that I cannot write this in Catelan but I have already informed you via the tourist office & an official form regarding this potential danger. [email protected]
