Visiting the Liberty Jail always helps me put my own hardships and difficulties into perspective. The men who were jailed there in the winter of 1838-1839 are an inspiration to me of cheerfully doing all in my power and relying on God to make up the rest. Wonderful tour and beautiful preservation.

I booked the Friday night murder mystery and one night in the Inn. When you check in - go to the bar area. There are only a limited number of rooms. We stayed in #7 - it is suppose to be haunted. The clicking in the bathroom - wind hitting the ceiling vent. The lights did flicker but I think that maybe a short somewhere. Room was HUGE but walls are very thin! Ear plugs are supplied for each room. All rooms are on the 3rd floor. Murder mystery was on 2nd floor. Appetizers not so good, dinner was amazing. It had salad, baby potatoes, ham, roast beef and homemade horseradish sauce. Two free drinks with the meal. If you aren't a big wine person - do the free sampling. I never drink white wine but LOVED the Sorelle Dolci - bought some for home. Murder mystery - we met some great people. We were the "party table". About 10 people read roles for the mystery. Quiet time is 10 pm - in your room. Murder mystery ends at 9:00ish, bar closes at 8. Not really any place to party/hang out/socialize after. This would be an excellent place in the summer. The staff were so nice. Thank you Hailey for your patience! The Owner is hands on and did an excellent job of renovating the Winery. Lots of detail - most older places have paint slapped on the old wood and it is done as cheap as possible - Nope! A lot was salvaged and preserved nicely. Owner welcomes you to look around building and be nosey. We love the history of the building. This is a hidden gem in Liberty. This would be a beautiful place for a wedding or event. We will be back to buy more Sorelle and stay again. Next time we do ghost tour so we can see buildings next door.

It was a cold and snowy February afternoon when a group of horsemen rode into Liberty, Missouri. After a short time, gunshots broke the winter silence as the men rode off with their loot leaving one young college student dead and the town in shock. The Jesse James Bank, located on the historic square in Liberty, Missouri, was the site of the nation’s first successful daylight peacetime bank robbery. While the robbers were never caught, the crime as attributed to the infamous James Gang. Visitors see bank as it was in 1866. Period furnishings fill the room and one become immersed in the story of the robbery as told by the bank teller. As you peer into the original green vault you can imagine the fear felt by the two bank tellers. Among the furnishings, a rare Seth Thomas clock, set for the exact time and date of the robbery, February 13, 1866. Many photographs and other documents are on display for the public to view. A museum store offers many historical books, period style toys and games, and other fun souvenir keepsakes. The Jesse James Bank Museum is operated by the Department of Clay County Parks, Recreation, Historic Sites and Tourism.
Visit the museum and the farm. Both tours are worth your time. This is a small area and doesn't take a lot of your time. The presentation tells you about the history of Liberty and of the James / Younger gang.
