The campus of the Indonesian Institute for the Arts (STSI) in the capital city of Denpasar is home to a museum that deserves to receive a great deal more visitors. The welcoming staff in the administration building will dispatch someone to walk you around the Latta Mahosadhi Museum, comprising two floors of ornately decorated gamelan musical instruments and dance costumes representing many of the country's diverse island cultures. Visitors in the morning hours may listen in on music classes. Monday-Friday, 8.30am-3.30pm.

100k per entry and it takes about 30 to 40nminutes but it is great fun. A staff member walks around with you and takes as many photos as you want and shows you how to pose for the best photos. It is something very different and really good fun. We have 2 teenage boys and they had an absolute blast. Highly recommend.

This small museum at the north end of Sanur Beach evokes a time of innocence and beauty before the introduction of relatively recent laws banning "immodest dress." Even more impressive than the paintings by the Belgian artist of the young Balinese dancer he married and her friends is the small mansion in which the art and artifacts are housed: a lovely example of Balinese architecture decorated with finely carved and gilded wooden shutters.
I was walking along Sanur beach when I found this museum behind the trees. First. I thought it was closed because no one seen and very quiet. But turned out I saw someone explaining something to some visitors. Apparently he was the guide. The entry ticket was cheap, only 10k (if I'm not mistaken) It was a house of a famous and legendary painter from French who married his Balinese model back then. But after he passed away, the house was taken over by (or given to) the government to be reserved as museum. All his painting are stored there, with beautiful old architecture of balinese house. The painting was great, but the story behind was awesome.
