Bentonville Battlefield State Historic Site

The Battle of Bentonville, fought March 19-21, 1865, was the last full-scale action of the Civil War in which a Confederate army was able to mount a tactical offensive. This major battle, the largest ever fought in North Carolina, was the only significant attempt to defeat the large Union army of Gen. William T. Sherman during its march through the Carolinas in the spring of 1865.

There was so much to see and learn about the Civil War. There are walking tours as well as a 10 mile( if you dont get lost ), driving tour. They have a gift shop with nice souvenirs. The Haprer House was the highlight of the tour. If you enjoy history, a definite must see.

Tobacco Farm Life Museum

Reviewed By TW540 - Martinez, United States

We spent an hour as we drove through on a trip with my mother-in-law. A short movie in the front office followed by a tour within the museum and a self guided tour of a half dozen out buildings with interpretive signs provided insight into tobacco farms of yesteryear. I would recommend stopping and perhaps driving ~30 minutes out of your way to visit.

I've been coming here since I was a child and have always loved the Nostalgia of this place. It's downtown Smithfield right on the corner, the prices are cheap, and the food is awesome!
