Baan Jang Nak - A Museum of Elephant Wood Carvings

This is such an amazing place just 20 min ride from the city center. Once we arrived, we immediately felt like home. Relaxing family vibe, dozens of carved elephants, authentic thai style wooden houses, delicious coffee and homemade cakes! This place is full of history, surrounded by nature and has super amiable owners to chit chat and get a dive into the Thai culture. Highly recommend!

Very nice place to watch them make painted umbrellas. You can also have one of the artists paint your phone or iPad case. Nice big gift shop also.

Thai Silk Village

We took a tuk tuk from our Chang Mai hotel to the Thai Silk Village. Easy trip, well worth the visit to see how silk moths morph into worms, cocoons and spun silk which is woven on traditional looms. Retail shop very nicely laid out and prices were affordable considering all the labor that goes into the hand-made shirts, etc. Many shirts also made by machine, according to sales person on floor.
