Schonbrunn Children’s Museum

Reviewed By AFAK25 - Jeddah, Saudi Arabia

Visit to Vienna can be a bit dry for children as the city is especially known for its arts, culture and cafe culture as well. Moreso in winter when it is too cold to go for activities in the Zoo or Prater. Then I thought why not give them some indoor fun at Children's Museum at Schonbrunn. Furthermore there were some negative reviews given by other visitors who went for the palace tour (too rushed, can't take pictures, crowded, etc.). After touring the gardens we went to the Children's Museum. Maybe we were the first visitors because we did not see another soul until much later. We took advantage of this by trying out the costumes, let the kids use the blue slide, trying out the wooden toys, and observe the various specialised rooms a prince would use in his daily routines. Then there were sobering moments of viewing the rotating illustrations that show the differences in the life of a prince and a commoner. How different they were treated when they got sick, go for education, eat, etc. My children saw the unfairness in life and were grateful for the comfortable life they have now. We were there for more than an hour. A bit generous for a small sized museum and the tickets for a family of 2 adults and 3 children comes up to EUR26.50 which may sound a lot but if my kids were happy than I should be too.

ZOOM Kindermuseum

Reviewed By adamontour - Melbourne, Australia

This was a wonderful children's museum with age groups broen up and hosted activities in German and English. The Ocean is for 0-3 year olds and our 2yo son had a great time. Just beware that you need to buy tickets for an admission time (on the hour) and that spaces are limited so try to book on line.
