Kerikeri, the largest town in Northland New Zealand, is a popular tourist destination about three hours drive north of Auckland, and 80 km north of the northern region's largest city, Whangarei. It is often called the Cradle of the Nation, being the site of the first permanent mission station in the country, and it has some of the most historic buildings in the country.

Welcome to Soland & James - we are a small family owned and run vineyard, just 10 minutes drive from downtown Kerikeri. Open 7 days 11:00 am - 6:00 pm (sometimes 8:00pm) Wine-tastings and sales are available in the old barn or outside, next to the Chardonnay vines. We are happy to take you on a wander around the vineyard and introduce you to the vines. We produce Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Rosé and Syrah. Come and meet Molly (our loveable lab), the crazy chickens and one of us :-) Cheers! Andrea

If you are in the area don’t pass this place by. If you prefer the personal touch and don’t like too many people around this is the place. This was our favourite venue. No food here but we had wine tasting by the owner who entertained while he poured. Very quietly funny he offered a great selection of wines with descriptions of the taste and how it was processed. I don’t drink and the host kindly offered water and we were invited to sit outside and enjoy the peace and quiet whilst we drank. It’s a little spot of paradise and we were all so glad we found it. Highly recommend. The wine must be good too. We left with 4 bottles!

We specialise in growing and making wines from grape varietals such as Pinot Gris, Syrah and Chambourcin, which are best suited to the Far North's climate and terroir. Grapes grown at Ake Ake Vineyard are fully certified organic. We also produce Preservative Free wine, Rose and Port.
CHRIS had us try 6 different wines during our tour of this wonderful boutique winery which does about 20,000 a year. They have a lovely dining area as well as outside patio area. Ti looks like a wonderful place for dinner.
