The Northfork is a gorgeous place...more commonly referred to as the Northfork Valley by travel writers and locals. It's the River Valley you drive through...while overlooking the the river below and the Snow capped mountains of Glacier Park in the distance. You will eventually come to the Polebridge Mercantile and have access to Bowman Lake a little further north. Most of the Northfork is off the grid and so it's very unique for most visitors. However you will not be alone up there. Its a famous destination all year around for various reasons. You can camp, hike and kayak the river in Summer and Fall. In the Winter it is best for cross country skiing and snow-shoeing. There are annual dog-sled races around New Years. Double check with the Polebridge Mercantile for dates and details. The Mercantile's Bakery is famous and now has solar panels to help with power. And it has a wonderful rest room/showers for both men/women in a converted cabin out back. No more stinky outhouse.

Logan Pass

Area in Glacier National Park that was used as a "pass" for travelers to get through the mountains.

We took this beautiful hike early in the morning (we got to the park at 5:30am to watch a sunrise over Lake McDonald) so there was plenty of parking. It is a gorgeous hike with mountain flowers, a beautiful lake and plenty of wildlife - we saw mountain goats, rams and marmots. But beware - a large part of the trail is covered in snow so bring hiking boots and/or snow sticks as otherwise it can be quite slippery.
