Steppe Cellars Winery

Steppe Cellars is a craft winery that our family has cultivated from our farm in the Rattlesnake Hills AVA within the fertile Yakima Valley. We produce limited quantities of wine from the highest quality vineyards. Our family invites you to join us at the winery and experience the beauty of the shrub steppe region of Washington State. The winery is located in a cherry orchard on a hill overlooking the Yakima Valley and is a quick drive from the interstate. Enjoy a picnic while sampling our dry to medium sweet Rieslings, or some of our complex red blends.Check our website for a complete listing of our wines and our hours.

This was one of our stops on a tour around the vineyards in the Rattlesnake area and was actually recommended by some of the other wineries as a place to go for lunch. The wine was very good and served out of this converted open-air barn. They were very open to letting us taste a number of different wines as they had a bunch of different grapes growing.

There's a family that run a wood-burning pizza over right next to the tasting room on the vineyard property. This was cooked to order and absolutely delicious. We enjoyed the pizza and wine at one of a number of little tables right behind the pizza area, which is in the midst of a fairly big orchard that is quite picturesque.

I'd definitely recommend this to anyone visiting wine country. It's a beautiful scenic area, good wine, and pizza.

We were hoping to go blueberry picking. We were also able to pick cherries (including Rainier Cherries) and apricots. All of the fruit was in beautiful condition, and the system for picking and weighing was very well organized.

There were also homemade double crust berry pies available, as well as some other delicacies. There was a safe play area for children, and large mature trees which provided shade essential to tolerating the heat - which was about 90 degrees Fahrenheit.

This activity for 2016 took place on July 1st and 2nd during the hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. They had several well maintained port-a-potties on site for the convenience of guests.

A very memorable day!

Sunnyside Historical Museum

Reviewed By 411Shirley - Seattle

This cute little museum is only open Wed-Sun 1:00 - 6:00 pm from June through September. I was so glad I wandered in. The docent was knowledgeable, entertaining, educated, and a promoter of the Sunnyside area. The building (formerly a funeral home) is relatively small, but packed with objects and information. The history of the area is explained, early settlers highlighted, memorabilia presented --- just an overall fun experience. I spent at least two hours in the museum entertained by some items that were considered "old" that I'd grown up using (dial telephones!!!). The telephone display area is totally hands on for kids, a nice touch. If you want to get a better idea about the Sunnyside area (an interesting history, by the way), do stop in!

Tefft Cellars

Reviewed By bluesagewyo - Wyoming - the Cowboy State

This was my very first official wine tasting event, and Teft was the ideal place for initiation. They have a great tasting room and store, and the vineyard is right next to the store, so you can see where they grow the grapes. They had a variety of glasses available with their name and logo. We purchased glasses and used them for the rest of the weekend of wine tasting. Their wine is great, and the place has a lot of charm. I would recommend it.
