Wild 5 Adventures

EXPERIENCE THE ULTIMATE RUSH! If you are a thrill seeker looking for the adrenaline-rush of a lifetime, the Wild Gorge Swing in Oribi Gorge will offer you guaranteed over-the-edge excitement! Give in to gravity by hurling yourself off the edge of Lehr’s Falls in what must be the most adrenaline inducing ride of your life! Rated as the world’s highest gorge swing, this activity means stepping (or diving) off the edge of the waterfall and plummeting into the 55-storey deep gorge. The free-fall is awesome and will have you accelerating up to the astounding speed of 120km/hours in 2.3 seconds. Wild 5 is situated on the Oribi Gorge Hotel property, 20 minutes’ drive from Port Shepstone, on the South Coast of KZN. Set amidst world-renowned view sites, Wild 5 Adventures offers a range of extreme (and milder) adventures in a setting of phenomenal natural beauty. These include a 110m abseil, foefie-slide, 85m suspension bridge, white water rafting on the Umzimkhulu, paintball and guided trails (hiking, birding and horseback). The fresh air does wonders for the appetite, so why not round off the perfect day by settling down for a bite to eat at the Oribi Gorge Hotel’s Wild Fig Cafe.

Oribi Vulture Viewing Hide

We are very privileged to have a resident breeding colony of over 200 Cape Vultures on our doorstep at Oribi Gorge, allowing very close up and personal encounters with these magnificent birds. From easily accessible cliff vantage points, you can observe the vultures soaring along the ridges, flying above, below and at eye level. Watch as they perform stunning formations and hear the rush of air through their feathers as they glide past, sometimes within just metres. This is a truly memorable (and has been described as almost spiritual) experience. Just a short drive from the tar road at Oribi and you are there. No 4x4 roads to navigate, no Mountains to climb, no long hikes.

The privelage of visiting the vultures with Andy Ruffle is a LIFO experience not to be missed. It is an experience both visual and intellectual. And best of all is that this is real evidence of home sapients actually getting the preservation of the planet RIGHT!

Trees and bush are the main distractions on the front nine. Feel free to play from the other fairways but be wary of the trees getting back to the correct targets. The back nine is far more open but has a cheeky little creek that runs around, through or next to most of the holes. Playing with a member is helpful as they can provide valuable insight for targets. Caddy was decent but got more info from the members I was playing with.
You can get range balls and bang them around the cricket grounds. Cool but nothing over an 8 iron. Plus, help the guys out and pick up your balls.
Fantastic place to hang out after the round. Outside or inside it is perfect for a good jol after a round of golf.
Proshop has friendly staff is is fitted out nicely with the golfers' needs.
If you have a chance, play this course. I can't wait for a second try at it.
