The walk took us about 5 hours in total (round trip), and the views continued to amaze us. The walk is not too hard, but does require some fitness at some stages. Let’s say 3 out of 5. Up about 3 hours, down about 2 hours. We did not use the Sareis chairlift, but walked up from the underground Malbun carpark (2€ per hour, P2 and P3 is free however, we found out later, and only 5 mins further down the road). The walk up made the first summit more rewarding and it only took about 45 minutes to reach the crossing from where the lift takes you. Ascent about 500m. During these 45 minutes you have great views of Malbun and the valley and nice cowbells in the background to make the picture complete. After the summit, make sure to stop at the Pfälzerhütte (about 30 min down). The people here serve great local food, and serve some nice beers to relax for a while and enjoy the views and the mountain. There is also some great selection of cakes and pies, to make you ready for the way down. It is possible to first go further up to the Naafkopf, but we felt like the first parts were already rewarding enough, and our legs were getting a bit tired as well. In conclusion: one of the best one day hikes I ever did!!

This was a very pleasant excursion to see the ski resort. The road to the resort has spectacular views of the Rhine Valley. Since it was October, it was fun to walk on the trails that will soon be covered with snow seeing the the ski runs and cows (with bells).

Take the chairlift to serene heights! The four-seat Sareis chairlift brings you up to the Sareiserjoch at 2'000 meters elevation, both a mountain restaurant and an ideal starting point for many hikes. Up here, you will enjoy a wonderful view of the valley and the peaks. Maybe you will only want to stay for a while in the Sareis mountain restaurant and walk down into the valley. Or you will choose to hike up to one of the peaks, such as the Augstenberg or the Naafkopf.

On a 3'600 square meter surface of snow, under the encouraging gaze of the omnipresent groundhog mascot "malbi", skiing will be a pleasurable experience. The little kings will glide up 40m on a "malbi-teppich" (carpet), like on a conveyor belt. On the "malbi-rondo" carousel, they will safely learn to make curves and try their first attempt at skiing using the practice lift. As the children discover skiing, parents can choose whether they wish to accompany their child or place their child in the capable hands of the qualified instructors.

Galina falconry (Falknerei) is an exciting experience. Never again will you get as close to eagles, falcons, hawks and eagle-owls. Every day at 3 p.m. (except Mondays) in Malbun, a professional falconer and his birds of prey put on a unique flight show. The majestic raptors and the swift falcons spiral upward into the sky before plunging just above the visitors' heads back onto the hand of the falconer. With speeds of up to 150 km/h (95 mph). Breathtakingly beautiful.
